What would you have done differently?

We had a huge cake at the Yacht Club and ate at the Yachtsman's Steakhouse. We had the cake boxed up and it was held by a desk somewhere, but no one could find it.

If we could do it over, we would have the cake delivered over to the Yachtsman's Steakhouse so we could have actually eaten it for our dessert!

Other than that, everything was perfect!

Well, I guess I have a slightly unique perspective here. Even though I am still 3 months out from my DFTW  , I'm planning it for the second time (to the same DF though, not too scandalous!) :thumbsup2

The first time around (last year) I wanted to do EVERYTHING. I was planning on favors, welcome bags, fans, programs, menus..........
This time around is smaller and simpler, and I'm LOVING it! I'm so much less stressed. I already had my favors, so those stayed, but no little tags on them, no place cards, no programs, no welcome bags. I figure a Disney wedding is amazing either way - no one will have any idea of all the little things I could have done, and no one will miss them. Our group is small (20 total) and very low key, so why go thru all the stress when they might not even notice? :confused3

We're 3 months out and other than a newsletter/itinerary and invitations, I don't really have any other projects to do, just normal dress fittings and things for me. Today we even made the decision to DOWNGRADE our wedding dinner from Narcoossee's to the Grand Floridian Cafe (similar menu options, half the price) and save ourselves some money! The guests still get a nice dinner, and no one will know the difference!! Maybe with that money I can convince DF to stay one more night!! ;) :rolleyes1

So, my advice from my second round of planning is to keep it simple. Do the big stuff you're really going to notice and skip the rest - you and your budget will be much better off! :goodvibes

Oh, yeah. Don't even get me started on that. My best friend of 10 years (Maid of Honor) dropped out of my wedding IN AN E-MAIL. :headache:

What I realized that is - if somebody doesn't want to go, no matter how much you accomodate them, they won't go. That's why it's best to do what YOU want to do for your wedding. I offered to pay for all her travel expenses, dress, shoes, hair, makeup, etc - I even offered to change our wedding date around her college classes. And then I get the e-mail. Heh.

Then, my other friend who was totally onboard with going - I e-mailed her at work (since we chat at work) after the holidays asking if she'd be able to fly down the day before because we're having a welcome dinner.

"Oh, about that."

Apparently, her family is flying in from overseas for Thanksgiving and now she can't afford the expense somehow. I still don't understand what that has to do with it. Our wedding isn't until December 12th!

I'm already having drama now with my third BM. Trust me, just save yourself the trouble and ask them later than sooner. Sorry if I sound so bitter, this just all happened within a few months and I feel so hurt that I'm losing friends over our wedding.

I'm now accepting applications for DIS BMs. Any takers? XD

Im sorry your having so much trouble.
Ive had a hard time with my bridesmaids also.. we have uneven bms and groomsmen now from my bms dropping out :scared1:
I need to make new friends! LOL
I only live 30 mins from disney if you need a bridesmaid. id be honored(and id get my dress on time) haha. I have a feeling my girls are going to wait to get theirs a week before the wedding. eep..

Now that you mention little things disprincess, I was lucky that I was invited to 2 weddings before my own (just timing I guess) and being a future bride I realized how I was as a guest and I noticed things. To be honest I only noticed little details because I looked for them, other guests (I watched them too) noticed what the bar served and dancing and what the cake looked like.
