Our company is having a consultant work with us to decide how we can "fix" things....we know what that means.

So of course, rumor mill is buzzing, and there will probably be some lay-offs.

Now we're assuming it's by seniority. So what if you knew something about a senior member (who is a LOUSY worker) that could save the job for someone who was hired after her? (and would probably be let go first) A someone who is a great worker.

This person has FMLA, which in itself is not a problem, but....she has it to take care of her dad, who is sick. She took the month of January off. But I know for a fact, (she told me, and others who aren't in our department) that she is taking it off to go on a vacation and fix her house up. She told our boss that her father is dying and she has to take care of him because they can't afford hospice. She's kind of dumb, because we have a mutual friend who said her father is doing well, and hospice isn't even a thought yet.

I know I shouldn't say anything, and I don't think I will, but it sucks that a good worker would be let go and this person stays just because she was hired first.

And yes, I'm jumping the gun, I'm just talking what ifs right now... :rotfl:

Sad as it is, I wouldn't get involved. I have tried to be helpful in the past and was burned...you don't know if this "senior" worker is related to someone high up or has dirt on someone, etc and I would hate for you to put your job on the line. Goodluck.

Nope, I wouldn't touch that one with a 10 foot pole. It will just come back and burn you.

When she gets back, you could always ask how her vacation was and tell her how rested she looks - where did she get that tan? - in front of the boss!
