Well, I'm starting to doubt making a ps or ar, or whatever for Mama melrose's. We will be at MGM on 9/26. We can take a boat to go to other restaurants, which one would you choose? My daughter will not go to sci fi or 50's primetime  lol. So, I'm curious to see what you would pick and why:)

A lot depends on what your plans are later in the evening. If you're heading to Fantasmic, that will make a big difference; as would if you're heading to Illuminations, though the difference would be completely opposite.

Also, a lot depends on where you're staying. If you're not staying at an Epcot resort, then it may not make sense heading in that direction.

If this dinner will be the end of your day, and you're staying in an Epcot resort, I'd surely recommend having dinner on the BoardWalk. Spoodles is wonderful, and DD-friendly, I'm sure.

Well, actually I think we are pretty flexible. We could probably do a lunch because Fantasmic is a must. We are staying at ASMo, but can of course use the transportation to go to other resorts. I'm just trying to figure out where we can go to use the table service credit for the day. I was actually thinking of maybe Beaches and Cream for lunch that day???

Mama Melrose is excellent. It is a must do for us each trip.

B&C is cute and has good burgers but I would not make a trip to the resort just for that.

And if you mean you would use a TS credit for B&C, you will get much better value at MMs. :sunny:

B&C wouldn't be my first choice. :) To be honest, I've never been impressed with lunch-time options at any of the resorts, with the exception of the rare times they open California Grill for lunch. I do like the idea of taking a long break from the parks midday, even if it is just to take the boat from D-MGM to Epcot, and head into Epcot for lunch (assuming you have park-hopping), and then back to D-MGM. Of course, my choices for lunch in Epcot might not jive with your tastes -- we've recently been eating lunch at the Matsunoma Lounge (for sushi). Rose & Crown is an interesting place to have lunch. It's far easier to get a table on the terrace for lunch than for dinner, and if the weather is nice it is so great to be able to eat a leisurely lunch outdoors. Chefs de France is another place which I like for lunch. I don't know -- maybe I just like seeing the sun as long as its in the sky, that I eschew having lunch in a restaurant where I can't readily see outside (such as is the case at Le Cellier, Biergarten, San Angel, Mama Melrose, Brown Derby, etc.)

I don't want to slight Spoodles, but lunch-time at Spoodles wouldn't be my preference. I'd almost prefer to do an early dinner, there, and then plan on heading back to D-MGM for Fantasmic. For lunch on the BoardWalk, I'd tend to lean towards a burger at the Big River Grille.

You mentioned Mama Melrose -- I've had my concerns about Mama Melrose. I'll just say that I feel that there are far better places to get Italian food at WDW, such as Palio. Brown Derby is, of course, very good, and a wonderful break mid-day for us. Of course, we've had to cut down on the Cobb Salads since we've made our health a major priority. :teeth:

Bicker this is off topic to the OP but have you ever tried lunch at Kona or the Grand Floridian Cafe? Both are excellent.

So is Mama Melrose. We actually do lunch there more often than dinner. It is a great respite from the park.

I thought Spoodles wasn't open for lunch?

We also very much enjoy Chefs and Rose & Crown for lunch. But if I was ever doing MYW, I would use the TS credit for dinner. More bang for your buck!

We have had lunch at the GF Cafe. It is very nice, and I highly recommend it. We haven't tried the Kona yet... the last time we ate there was quite a while ago, before it was the Kona.

Poking my memory, you're correct about Spoodles. That's probably one reason why it wouldn't be my preference. ;)

Well, we decided to go to the 50's Primetime cafe. We looked at that one and I guess we will go with that. Thanks for the input.

I see you have decided but I have to pipe in that Mama Melrose is a must do for us on each trip. We are actually going out of our way and returning to MGM at dinner time on our 1 park day on our next short trip. We relaly like it a lot!
