What Would You Do?

I have 280 points, which I have already explained on other posts, that I have to use by Dec. 1 (banked from resale). We are already going to WDW in October, and Disneyland for Thanksgiving. I cannot change any dates and have already paid for those vacations. What would you do with the points? I would like to hear any thoughts on it and if you want to be creative, then go for it. Can't wait to hear.

You could try renting them. If you rented for the going rate of $10-11, you could make $2800-3080. That would give you some eztra spending money or Christmas money. Or, if you have to, you could make another trip down to WDW

You can also have MS bank them for an II exchange- that will give you two years to make the exchange.

Renting them is certainly an option, but with the occupancy already pretty taken thru the end of the year, you may not find much availability for a renter.

You could use them to stay at one of the DL Hotels and cancel the paid reservation you already have there.

I think there is a possibility that you could trade out of DVC to another timeshare with the points and still be able to use them through the next year. I'm not sure about this one, please confirm with someone more knowledgable. Otherwise rent them, or you might find someone willing to trade points with you. If they have a vacation coming prior to Dec they could use the points for, and you would like points that do not expire as soon, you could work out a trade. Perhaps you lend them a few more points than they lend you to help trade for thier points which don't expire as soon. Just an idea. It's called the rent and trade board, I don't know how much trading actually goes on. You could also tack a cuise on one of your vacations, take an excursion to New York and stay in the Plaza Hotel, go skiing, or use them for a wonderful extended weekend at a concierge collection destination. Heading up to New York to see some Broadway plays sounds like a wonderful way to splurge and enjoy your points. How often do you get an excuse to stay in the Plaza Hotel?

I can't remember from the other post, but did you pay cash for the WDW ressies? If you used current year points for the ressie, you could have MS adjust the points so that the ressie uses your 280 banked points and you can put the current year points back. They could be used later or banked, if your use year deadline allows.

I was thinking there was some type of option like that to extend the life of your points. Thanks Doc. Hope your faired well in the storm, great to hear from you.

You could make reservations for family or dear friends who have the time/money for a Disney trip. It could be at cost, deeply discounted or even free. You probably won't be in this position ever again. Take advantage and make someone's day!
