I have been using the Disney VISA the past 18 months, in anticipation of our trip to WDW in August. I currently have 425 bucks on it, and will have 15 more dollars from the month of July (at least), so 440 available for our trip.

Well, dh and I have also managed to save about $1500, plus the fact that we'll have our regular everyday money (groceries, etc)

Obviously, everything else is paid for (passes, hotel, airfare)

Since we only have 7 days (2 travel/check in/check out days), 4 park days and one "at the pool day" to pay for (plus our car rental), I am pretty sure that $1500 will cover it (2 adults, 3 kids.....one kid who is 12, but will eat off kids menu except at buffets)

I'm also thinking of ordering a few vouchers, which would make our money go even farther.

If we don't spend our bucks now, I'm thinking we could go to DL at Xmas, and probably pay for our passes. Or, maybe go in summer, and stay at the Grand Californian!

I can't decide what to do!

If you don't need the reward dollars for this trip I'd save them for a splurge and stay at the Grand Californian! That resort looks awesome!

I would think 1500 should be plenty. Go for DL at Christmas :D !

Just be sure to check your Rewards Card to see when those Disney Dollars expire. I happened to call Disney VISA today and my current card expires December 28th, 2004... not even December 31st like I had assumed!

I'd definitely vote the Grand Californian! We've stayed there twice, with a California Adventure view by Grizzly Rapids! It's wonderful! We've also stayed in the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier... all very nice.

Have fun! :)

Another vote for Grand Californian! I stayed there a couple years ago and LOVED it!!! (If you are a WL, you will probably like GC too.)

My choice would be to spend the Rewards Dollars on this trip because:
  • You can take the cash that you don't spend and put it in a savings account to collect interest, the Dream Dollars will just sit there.
  • Cash is more flexible than the Dream Dollars, you can spend it anywhere and on anything that you want. Dream Dollars have to be spent on Disney stuff.
  • Cash never expires. If you can't make the December trip, you won't lose anything by delaying it for months or even years.
But, I would still plan for that trip to DL and staying at the Grand Californian in December!

Well, I talked to dh, and we decided NOT to order my Disney VISA bucks for this trip. We decided for a couple of reasons.....

I ordered some vouchers, which will save us a bit of money.

I have estimated our expenses, but I always over estimate, so we'll probaly have way more than we need.

My rewards don't expire until 2008, so we have plenty of time to use them.

If we end up changing our minds, we can go to DD and request them.

Our friends (we went to DL with them last Xmas) want to go again this Xmas. If we stay at an off site hotel, my rewards by then will probably pay for ALL our passes AND all our meals at Disneyland!

Of course, as with all my plans, they are subject to change.:earsgirl:
