What Would You Do?

What do you do? Which choice most closely reflects your reaction?

  • Terrific! Got a room and we're ready to hit the parks!

  • Ask for the CM to check for another room. Take the original when nothing else is available.

  • Tell the CM you will wait for a room that more closely meets your needs.

  • Take the room reluctantly but probably forget about check-in within the hour.

  • Take the room reluctantly but be disappointed for the rest of the trip.

  • Who cares what room it is?-- we're in Disney and never make requests

This is off topic a bit but since we are discussing room requests . . .

I haven't stayed at BWV yet so I'm not sure how this works. If I request a preferred view and am told it is available but when I check in I don't get that does MS adjust the points?

Just curious. Annmarie

If you book a preferred view you will get a preferred view. If some unforseen accident, etc. took some preferred rooms out of service and they put you in a standard view, I'm sure they would refund the points without penalty.

What Boardwalk has now started to do is book preferred rooms also by view. You can book Boardwalk or "the other" view.

We recently returned from our first trip home. For the first part of the trip (broken into to parts - BCV, Cruise, BCV) I requested an Epot view and received it. For the second part I requested close to the elevators (grandpa has bad knees) and received it. The view was looking over the courtyard and drop off by the entrance to BCV.

Both rooms were excellent (and non-smoking). After this experience, we decided we don't care what the view is. In fact the second room was a corner room and much larger. My DH said he would give up the Epcot view for the extra space.

I think that we would opt for the first room available as long as it is non-smoking, dump our stuff, and head off to the fun!!!!!!!!!!!

I voted for "ask the CM to check for another room - take original if nothing available."

I am a pretty good sport and I don't need the BEST view to be happy, however after looking at the parking lot for 5 days at CSR, I will in the future at least ASK for a better view / location.

The only request that was met was "non-smoking."

I accepted the room, which was not in my requested building nor requested floor, with no questions asked. I was not terribly upset, just generally disappointed....

Especially since I learned the resort was not full at the time.

AND I was spoiled with a free waterview upgrade the year before - which was spectacular! I will gladly pay for this in the future!

I usually only have one preference listed--non-smoking--other than that I take what they give me. I have never been disappointed with a room I've been given and I found that view isn't really that important. We don't spend the day looking out the window. If a room was a really big disappointment, however I would wait for another room to be assigned.

The only time I can say I was disappointed with the room was when we were given a BWV HA room "overlooking" the main pool. The shower area was angled so you had water from one end to other - all the way to the toilet if you didn' t use the hand held shower directly over the drain. I had only requested non-smoking and near pool. The reason for the disappointment was that because of the solid boards on the balcony you couldn't see anything except the sky if you were sitting down. Sure felt sorry for someone in a wheel chair who might have liked to watch the pool. If I had known about the balcony I would have asked to have the room changed and foregone the pool view as I really enjoy sitting out and having coffee and doing some people watching etc. All that said it was close to the elevators and we had a great time. I feel that there was plenty of pixie dust around the last few trips as most if not all requests were met. The one exception was when I asked to be near a pool as well as the usual NS. We were right next to the pool - it just didn't have any water in it. We laughed a lot about that one and just used the main pool by HH at OKW. The only way I would ask about other rooms is if I knew for certain that the one they were trying to asign was smoking or on the ground level when I really wanted an upper floor. After all - any room at Disney is better that my office at work!

Non-smoking is a must for. As long as the room is clean, we are fine. I am staying at BWV in Sep for the first time. I will ask nicely what they are giving me and if a BW view is available. If they say no. Ok, and what do I get should be fine.

I always ask for Boardwalk view, upper floor, non-smoking when making a ressie, and I always ask again when I check in. I have always gotten a nice room, not always what I asked for, but that's OK. The only room I ever refused overlooked Swan/Dolphin, I think, but it was difficult to tell because the dumpster and the red building were in the way. I refuse the Swan/Dolphin view on principle--in my opinion, that's not a preferred view. Otherwise, I don't care whether I overlook a pool, Boardwalk, or Village Green, it's still nice. I make my requests known so they know what my dream room is, but I don't go to Disney expecting that every request will be honored, except for non-smoking.

With the new changes to the reservations for BW view villas I doubt you will get a BW view unless you have been guaranteed the view. But not to worry, BWV really does not have any bad view villas. Our favorites are: preferred/non BW view: the quiet pool and standard view: the tennis court area.
Enjoy your trip, BWV is a fantastic resort, I am sure you will be happy in whichever villa you get. I will also be there in Sept but staying at BCV for the first time but I am sure I will spend a lot of time at on the boardwalk also. Just love the boardwalk at night, the restaurants and Jellyrolls!
