What Would You Do...

Club Level at Coronado and Beach Club.

Used to stay at Boardwalk all the time because of the great location of those hotels. Now shifted to Coronado Club. Missing the location is a huge hit but the tower and club level make up for it. Cheaper too. It’s my first choice of any hotel on property.

For a Christmas season trip, Wilderness Lodge. It is the most beautiful and cozy at Christmas. It has one of the biggest Christmas trees at Disney World, and with its northwestern lodge motif, the lodge is naturally Christmasy in it mood.

Contemporary for a non-Christmas, non-summer trip where you'll be spending the bulk of your time at Magic Kingdom or Epcot. Or even for a summer trip if you don't swim much or if you have multiple little kids you'd have a hard time keeping track of at a large pool complex.

Beach Club for summer trips because Stormalong Bay is awesome, with its huge pool complex, Flying Jib waterslide, and three hot tubs. And because it's the only pool at WDW where CMs scan the MBs of guests to keep out crashers, so that keeps crowding down. If you have a not-strong-swimmer child or children, you'll need to stay with them during pool time, as there is a deep area (lazy river with a slow current but too deep to touch bottom even for adults). But if you're okay with swimming with your child(ren), it's great even for young kids as there is a shallow sandy pool perfect for building sand castles, and there is a small slide for the little ones.

Deluxe: YC. For guaranteed balcony! Also first bus pick up and no line of strollers.
In MK area I’d pick GF Over CR. Wonderfully relaxing and great food options.

Moderate Is tough. Riverside for years has been our fav moderate. Our first stay was at CBR, and we liked it, just liked Riverside a bit more. But we are booked at CBR, fingers crossed, for Aug. I think the Skyliner will be a game changer.

Thank y'all for your input! After reading everyone's posts, if I had to leave right now I think I would go with Coronado tower or Beach Club. Leaning slightly toward Coronado since it appears to have deluxe accommodations but a cheaper price.

I'm thinking August 2021, so I ran a "fake" search on the Disney website for Aug. 2020 for a comparison and Coronado is about $600 cheaper. Only having buses isn't a big deal, plus we'll be driving so we could always use our on car if we really wanted to. I read that some people don't like how it's also a convention hotel but I don't think we'll be bothered by that. Love Disney but also don't want it to be all Disney all the time.

But Beach Club looks very homey and love the beach theme and being in the middle of two parks and the Boardwalk. Definitely has more restaurants and obviously a location advantage but if it's that much more when 2021 prices are out then that might be a little too much. We'd definitely take advantage of the pool if said trip were to be in August.

We own @ BWV,I really enjoy the rare visits @ BCV but the pool can get quite chaotic.

My vote for 2 adults, if the pool is important to you, would be another of my ‘homes’ WL. However, the MK view rooms @ the CR are absolutely magical!

Moderate - Prefer Mansion rooms at PORR, although the FQ grounds are very romantic.

Since you would have a car, might want to think outside the bubble & consider Wyndham Bonnet Creek rental or the Swan/Dolphin (which often has some great Priceline rates).

Have fun planning your trip.

Deluxe: Contemporary, Beach Club, Wilderness
We are also two adults. Of these, we like Beach Club because of the location to Epcot and DHS which are the two parks we visit most often. Its also nice being close to the Boardwalk and the dining options there. Also love the look, feel, and theme of the resort because it feels very "vacation" to us. However, we've found Stormalong Bay pool to be crowded and busy since its the most popular pool on property. So, for us, Beach Club is best suited for a trip with minimal pool time or if we're ok with just using a quiet pool.

Moderate: Coronado, Riverside, Caribbean Beach
We love Coronado best for the amenities and theme of the resort, but we recently opted for CBR because of the Skyliner. Transportation/ease of getting places is probably the most important factor for us when deciding on a resort because we spend so much time commuting to and from the parks, and its something we do every day at least twice (once going, once leaving).

How did you like Caribbean Beach?

Just adults: I'd go for BC- walk to Epcot with all the great restaurants and close to BW for entertainment at night!
POR: really enjoyed our stay there, nice atmosphere!
CBR: stayed there so long ago.... but it has changed so much I may actually like the Skyliner aspect.

This is completely hypothetical. Given the choice for each, which would you prefer?

Deluxe: Contemporary, Beach Club, Wilderness
Moderate: Coronado, Riverside, Caribbean Beach

Delux @ BC to me is the most chill resort at WDW. It is not trying to "be" something or someplace. It simply is about being in a state mostly surrounded by salt water. And the easy boat or walk access location to Epcot, Hollywood and Boardwalk is ... magical.
Mod @ CB and this recommendation is absurd because I have never been there. BUT .... not that it is newly re-furbished. Pull up a resort map, videos, etc. and take a look. I think you'll be really jazzed about CB.

First, you are allowed to make a reservation 499 days before your trip, calculated from the last day of your trip. The info may not be online, but you can call, and make a deposit with payment for one day at the current rate. Here is a site that will help you figure out if you can do that yet. http://pscalculator.net/pscalc.php

If it's a short trip, then a MK or Crescent Lake resort is my pick.
From the Contemporary, it's an EASY walk to MK, and there's the monorail to Epcot.
If you are have park hoppers and want to have great meals every park day, then BC (or YC if the price is better) would be my pick.

For a longer trip, you might want to go to a moderate, since you will have more time to deal with transportation, and money will go further. Other posters have given you the pros and cons to those.

We unfortunately had to cancel due to the closures. But we did stay at CBR back in 2014. At the time, we didn't care for the long bus rides (it circled 7 stops at the resort) and we didn't like that the front desk was separate from Old Port Royale, at the far end of the resort. However, since then, they have reconfigured the resort so that check-in is centralized at Old Port Royale, new food court, and the buses only service a maximum of 4 stops during the busiest times. Between these changes, resort refurbishments, and the Skyliner, I'm confident we would have enjoyed our stay. Hoping to make it back and stay there before year's end!

499 days from the day you check out, is that how it works? So if I want September 30- October 2 2021 I have to wait until May 21 this year to call? I was going from the check in date which would mean calling on May 19.

What do you consider a short or long trip? We are thinking of a 4 night/5 day. Arrival day we will hang out at the hotel and then head to Disney Springs. Next three days is one park per day with resort time mixed in. And we'll check out at breakfast on day 5, and then stay in the last park until like 1 before going home.

Yours is right in the middle! A short trip - to me - is a weekend to 3 days. I was thinking a week for a longer trip, but everything depends on your own individual wants/needs/budget/stamina!

Everything I've read says that you count back from checkout day, but this is a weird year. If you have time on the 19th, why not call and see what they say? They may be VERY happy to take your booking. But if there is a limitation on the reservation program, it might not be possible

Things are different right now, so they are only asking for a $200 deposit, not one night's fee. I made two March 2021 room-only reservations like this.

It’s all about what you want to do while there, where you think you will spend the most time! Wilderness Lodge is our favorite of all time so we would go there first and for mods, POR, we love it also! We just ant justify the money for a monorail resort but it is your honeymoon! We are going to relax and vacay so the boat ride to MK is just part of the fun! POR is just a relaxing resort and you can take a boat to Disney springs and it isn’t a long bus ride to anywhere!
