What would you do?

We have all the days we need booked and we got mostly what we wanted but we do have a single night at the VGF and not sure if it is worth it or if we should try get something else in its place. We wanted to do a split stay spending the majority of the time at AKV and then trying out another resort. What we have right now is:

4 nights at AKV
1 night at VGF
2 nights at Poly

We definitely want the AKV nights and Poly nights, never stayed there, but not sure about the single night at VGF. Should we try to find that night at the Poly or AKV and only have to switch once or is it worth it to try out the VGF for the 1 night, we have not stayed here either and would love to try it but not sure 1 night is worth it.

Also, can anyone give me some tips for room requests at the poly for a standard view studio?

This is just my opinion, and I don't know the number of people traveling, ages, dynamics, etc.

But for my family, DH, DS22, DD18, and myself, I would not move twice in two days. Just too much of a hassle.

I really enjoy the DVC at the Poly. I would WL the VGF night at both resorts and take whichever one came available first.

As for room requests at the Poly, we have only stayed Lake View (or Theme Park View, I don't remember what it is called). We asked for high floor (so our view wasn't blocked by the bungalows) and close to pool. That put it further away from the horn of the ferries at the TTC. The horns didn't wake us at this location, but we are all good sleepers. A light sleeper might have problems.

Thanks, I think I kind of agree with you about it being a hassle but was torn because my wife would really like to try the VGF, maybe that is best saved for another trip.

I also should have mentioned we are in a standard view at the poly.

I would not move twice - by the time you check in and have to check out I'm not sure it's worth all that trouble. I would wait list both and see which comes through first. When you stay at Poly maybe spend an afternoon or evening at GF!

I wouldn't move twice either especially for one he night. Loved loved loved poly, even in the std room. The salt water pool is awesome imo, and the ease of transport to mk and Epcot is a seller for me. Youre also a short walk from vgf so you can walk over and check it out.

I'm not a big fan of akl -- especially if you already have 4 nights there.... so I would waitlist just poly. Bc it's just one night you're more likely to get it.

One night in the middle and a total of 2 moves would not be worth it IMO. I'd wait for a trip where I could split with VGF or have the entire stay there.

The answer is -- it depends.

My wife and I did a 4 night/3 resort trip for F&W last year (didn't get our points until late July, so I had to piece together the trip). We did 1 night at BLT/AKV and 2 nights at BCV.

If it is just you and your wife, it's not as big of a deal as if you are traveling with little ones. With that said, it is still a pain in that you are going to be "homeless" from 11 am until 4 pm. Plus, your bags from AKV could take awhile to get to your room.

During our trip, by the time we got to BCV, we were both pretty exhausted (we went hard core MK/AK the first two days -- and then epcot on the third). By 2 pm on that third day, we were both wiped out and walked over to BCV in hopes the room would be ready. Luckily, the room was ready by about 2:45 -- so we didn't have to wait in the lobby too long. But our bags from AKV didn't show up until around 5 pm, so we were without our stuff for a few hours even though we got into our room. Took a nice 3 hour nap...something I haven't been able to do much since the kids were born.

The one nice thing about doing the split stay though is that you will get a good feel for the rooms and the resort -- and that way you'll know if you'd like to stay there longer term in the future.

Personally -- I say go for it! While I wouldn't do the whirlwind 3 resorts in 4 nights that we did -- I'm glad we did it b/c we found out that BLT wasn't so bad -- and we came away less than impressed with AKV. The rooms are great and we loved the theming, it's just that Kidani is so massive that it takes a long time to go from your room to the lobby if you end up near the end of the hallway.

Ok I'm torn.
On the one hand I say try to get the Poly for the extra night. (Poss my new fav)
On the other hand I haven't stayed at GFV yet either so I am also intrigued.

If I were to do that. Stay at GFV the one night I would.....
Have a leisurely last morning with maybe bkfst at boma. Take a taxi to GF about $25 I know.
Quick ride to GF you will have your pool bag all ready. Check your bags at bells service and enjoy a resort day. Get a good feel for resort being that you have such a short time.
After swimming and maybe a light lunch... or liquid lunch room should be ready. Maybe head to park for evening fastpass and dinner.

I would not move twice if there was any way to avoid it and would do what denlo suggested.

Remember that it's a short walk from the Poly over to the VGF if you want to check it out for a meal or treat your wife to the afternoon tea. When we stayed at the Poly, we took the boat from the MK to the VGF at the end of our MK time. stopped at the resort's quick service and then leisurely walked through the resort and back to the Poly. Obviously we didn't get the experience of the actual villa, but we did enjoy the VGF visit without allowing for an hour on each end of it for transportation.

Thanks everyone. I went ahead and put that 1 night on waitlist for poly and if it comes through then great but if not we will just stick with it as it is. Do not think I want to do an extra night at AKV since we are there for a while already. If it doesnt come through then we will just have the extra switch and see how it goes.

I do see there is a now a Lake view studio at the poly for the night I need but our other nights are in standard. Being that we would still have to change rooms it doesnt seem worth it to grab it.

If you have to change rooms any ways then might as well keep VGF. If it is just you and your wife, I'd keep things as is - might be kind of fun to try the different resort. Moving isn't that bad because bell services can handle it all unless you have a car. Hopefully you can pack light so there isn't too much to move and pack and re-pack.

I'm biased because VGF is my home resort and we LOVE it...so go for it and enjoy!

After doing different combinations of moves over the years, we now limit moves to one, if any each vacation. We like to nest and vacation, not spend our vacation time dealing with bell services, moving, front desk, and housekeeping.

Well, we have moved a lot on our last trips, usually twice. Last trip we did one night BWV, one night BL and 5 at poly. The moving was not so bad, we just had bell services transport the bags and brought a bunch of ones for tips. We are booking one night at VGF, 5 nights at OKW, and 2 and AK for our next trip.

Oh, for poly, we made a request and got basically the opposite of everything we asked for. Ended up in Pago Pago facing the parking lot. It ended up being great - short walk to the TTC.

For me it would depend on the number of people traveling and whether there are kids.

I once pieced a 2 week trip together and moved a lot but it was just me and I had a car and an annual pass.

I think the GFV is worth experiencing if you have an easy to move party.

The Poly is excellent and I would be inclined to try for 2-3 nights at AKV and the rest at Poly.

As for standard view I've stayed standard view twice and once was 3rd floor parking lot view and the other was 1st floor garden view - or - people walking by to the Ticket and Transportation Center view.

I preferred the parking lot view because it was an open vista as opposed to a more closed in feel of a building near by. I liked first floor as I didn't have to wait for the incredibly slow Pago Pago elevator.

I liked the garden view because a couple of ducks would check me out having my morning coffee, but they quickly moved on when they figured out I was not feeding them.

The rooms are well set up at the Poly so lots of bath space and enough room space.

The GFV is more luxurious and if you have lake view - it's a wow. I had an end room lake view with a big balcony open to seeing the castle and fireworks as well as the rest of the resorts and the lagoon. Haven't stayed monorail view yet.
