What would YOU do?

Which flight?

Another vote for Atlanta here...just too much of a chance or winter weather delays in the mid-west.
Bad enough flying out of MSP, stacking another weather prone airport like STL just increases your chances of delays.

As far as the arrival time goes, your travel day is just a lost day anyway whether you get in at 8:00 or 11:00.
It's not like you'll have time to do much at the resort but sleep on arrival day anyway.
Grab some sleep and the adrenaline will kick in the next day whatever you decide.
Enjoy your trip.

EDIT: whoops, see you already decided

I think he's saying schools are going into lock downs more often, and if that happens in the morning, you won't be able to pick up your child. Seems a strange thing to base planning on to me, but to each their own.

I kind of thought that's what he meant, but yeah, that would be a really weird thing to base planning around. It's still a very uncommon event.

A little off topic (sorry) but in terms of basing planning, last summer we had an evening flight home on our departure day but I didn't want to do a park. I wanted to do DS, maybe the outlets and maybe check out the Orlando Eye. The night of our arrival I laid down in bed with the news on just to see what was happening in the area and watch the weather. One of the top stories was how the Eye got stuck and people were stranded for 3 hours until they could get everyone down. I envisioned us stranded in the Eye when we should have been at the airport or worse, completely missing our flight because we decided to check out the Eye and needless to say, after leaving the outlet we headed right to the airport. We were a little earlier than we needed to be but it was the first time during the week I took the time to check my email and catch up on social media so it was fine with me. I know the chances of something happening were minimal but I just couldn't get it out of my mind. No, I am not saying I would plan around the potential of a school lockdown, the topic just made me think of the Eye situation.

Oh yeah, I mean, things happen. My kid could wake up vomiting. We could get into a car accident on the way to the airport. An armed robbery could occur at my residence. The weather could be bad. There are always a ton of "coulds" in life. You plan for what you know and hope the rest doesn't happen. There's absolutely no way to plan around the myriad of unlikely events that "could" occur. I just think picking "school lockdown" as the one to plan around is totally bizarre. I would think there would be a much greater chance of a bad weather situation, and even that isn't a huge concern on the first day of December.
