We are going to WDW 11/26-12/4. There are five of us my DH, myself, DS - 8, DD - 3 and DD - 2. It's our first family trip and I want to make sure everyone has fun and is well rested. I don't know what to do because the days we are going MK is only open most days till 7pm because of MVMCP.

Here is my question which option is better?

A. Get there at rope drop stay till around noon, then go back to the room and let kids nap till three or four. After their naps we go to dinner then a different park in the evening.

B. Stay till 1 or so do naps and dinner then play it by ear in the evening.

The difference is option A less time in the MK on those days but another park in the evening or More time in MK those days and possibly nothing else that evening.

Depends on how well your kids nap. :) In my experience, with kids around the same age, we've gotten plenty done before dinner time, even with a 2-3 hour break for naps. If your family are early-risers, I'd definitely recommend hitting rope drop or even getting early ADRs to get a jump start on things. I'm guessing AK will have later hours as well, so that gives you an option to hop to if the family still has some energy left. :)

I would play it be ear. My kids were always able to nap in their strollers. We never went back to the hotel to nap/rest. Took too much time especially when the hours are shorter. I would just try to stay the whole day. I got my shopping in when they napped or loved just walking around.

Would the 8 year old nap? My DD7 only naps when sick and has been that way since about 2.5. When she was little she napped in the car or stroller. The movement swayed her to sleep.

I thought about that and we figured if he didn't me and DS could swim, resort hop, go to the arcade, etc. and DH could stay with DD's

When the kids were young we would get up early, nap during the middle of the day, and head back out to the parks later on.

Play it by ear. With kids you never know how things will go after a long day. They may enjoy the resort pool more that standing in a line.
