What would you do?

Well I guess I'm in the minority here...I always would opt for more days in Disney....2 more nights staying there to me is a no brainer...Yes it would definitely be hard to not go to a park, but honestly there is soooo much more to do at WDW..

Everyone else here is suggesting other places, which is fine, but there's nowhere else that you get that Disney treatment/feel. I don't need to be in the parks to get that feeling....You get that from the bus drivers to the monorail drivers to the venders to even the person cleaning up the bathroom.

Enjoying the resorts is actually things that we love to do now...Obviously a DVC villa or deluxe has more to do with that, so I would say out of those 4 or 5 days, I would visit some of the other resorts pools & shops. Head to some restaurants. Go to the Boardwalk & explore, Take a bus ride to POR, then enjoy it there, & hop on a boat to DTD...( plenty to do there.) You have 2 mini golf courses that could be visited....Honestly 4 days wouldn't even be enough to do all this....

Once again I would reiterate, it definitely would be hard to not see a park, but more days in WDW is the route I would go...Have fun making your choice..:thumbsup2

I thought this wasn't allowed? I thought pool hopping was against the rules, unless you're talking about the sister pools--POR/POFQ or all the All Stars.

You can't pool hop unless staying all stars, DVC
( then only dvc pools)or POR/POFQ

Another vote for resort with park. We have done one night stays before getting on a bus for DCL. We pick a Disney resort we have not stayed at before and do only the resort. The flight we pick gets us there early enough to explore it all and dine at the signature restaurant/s. Get up the next morning and we're off.

I don't think any of the resorts we have stayed at could hold my interest for three full days. I would go nuts knowing that there are four parks waiting for me and not go to at least one.

I have to agree that going for only 2 days and just going to one park with 14 hours of driving is not something I would do. If your budget is only 600 for a 4 day vacation you need to rethink where you are going to and what you are going to do.

I would think about doing the Sea World package where you would actually get to go to some parks.

Sounds like you might be better off waiting until next year and saving up some money where you don't have to choose like that.

I personally would never take my kids to Orlando and then tell them sorry we can't afford to go to any parks.

There are plenty of other places you can go if all you are going to do is sit around the resort pool.

When kids put Disney on their wish list I really don't think they mean staying at a value and not going to any parks.

Unless somethings changed, I believe the only pools that can't used by onsite guests are: AKL/AKV, BLT,SAB,AoA......And some of the others that are allowed to pool hop, are not on certain days, or busy weekends of the year...

When we were at BWV last year, there were plenty of people that were frequenting that pool, but on the last 2 days we were there( around LABOR DAY) they asked us where we were staying and gave us wrist bands for those days.....

That is a lot of driving and gas money for a short stay. I would see if you get a better rate at an offsite resort, so you can stay 4 days and go to the park. Otherwise, I would look at a short Carnival cruise out of Jacksonville or Port Canaveral. It might only cost a little, but food is included.

Ok!! Thanks guys I have read all of your comments and finalized my reservations yesterday. We are going July 3-July 5 and doing one park. And staying on site. The 7 hour drive is nothing to me, I use to drive back and forth to MD and that's 12 hours so 7 hours is a piece of cake and gas is no big deal I drive a versa and I get 326 miles on a full tank and its $40 to fill up! This trip is for the kids! They make a summer bucket list every summer and we try and get it done!

Have you given any thought to the fact that's a holiday and just how crowded it's going to be? Maybe not as big a deal if you've got several days to spend and can work with the crowds. But if you've only got 1-2 days, you may well not get to do everything you want. Of those three days, how many days of park tickets will you have? I know you mentioned one park, so is that only one day? And will that one day be July 4th???

Even if my kids REALLY wanted to go, I'd speak clearly with them and steer them a different way---different place or waiting until next year when you could do SOOOOO much more. I know you said it's not a big deal but it's a whole lot of money and a whole lot of time for a couple days that could end up being spent standing in long lines and not getting to do what you want!

As much as I LOVE Disney and would take any opportunity to be there, this one sounds like way more trouble than it's worth! :confused3

I would save money and wait another year. We are in a similar spot and have chosen to do this.
