It sounds like you worked out the price up front and if so, that is a very fair price. I'd agree with the idea that it depends on how it was set up and who invited them. However, you should realize that at $10 for a 1 BR, they will pay more than they might otherwise pay for such a trip. Hopefully they see the value in such an option and are happy with that. Realize that many people have the sense that once owned, a timeshare is free to use. While WE all know differently, I've seen that theme MANY times. Our friends that are joining us had asked to come along, and thought it would be a good idea to get their own room since they have twin 4 yr olds that you would think wake up with a can of red bull in their hands. They asked how much it would be for a room of their own. I went with the $10 per point route knowing that they were still getting a screaming deal for a 1 bedroom. They had no problem with the price, I was just curious what the average price my fellow dvc'ers would charge, if at all. Thanks for all the responses!
We are hoping to take a family with us next year with two children ages 7 and 12 at time of travel. We have not asked and will not ask for any compensation. They are responsible for their own food and tickets and will drive down while DH and I fly. I am definitely getting them their own room, probably will only be able to do a studio unless we add on. DH and I do not have children so hence a little separation is the best way for us. I hope to show them the ropes and let them have lots of family time, maybe meeting up for meals. I want this to be a trip for their children and think that if DH and I had not offered a very nice room at AKV they never would have gone.
