if you had the whole day off, didnt know a soul in town, and don't want to spend a lot of cash.

The fiance thinks I should clean the house. This does not seem like a nice way to spend my day. lol.

What would be your ideal way to spend a day off by yourself?

Lay in bed, read my book, watch mindless television.

That being said, if the house was a total pig sty, I would have to do a quick clean prior to being a bum. I would feel guilty. But if it's not wrecked, then I wouldn't care all that much.

Enjoy your day off. :thumbsup2

Go to the local library, check out the selection, maybe check out some books.

Then head home, call in some take out, take a nice hot bath, and read something.

If it was nice out I'd look for a local park to check out.

Also, I'd look into museums in town. Sometimes they only charge a small donation fee!

It would depend on my mood.
If I was tired and feeling lazy, I'd definitely flake out and watch TV, read a book or a mag, have a nap, and maybe a nice long bath.
If I was feeling like a homebody, I'd cook up a nice meal.
If I was feeling adventuresome, I'd hop into the car, drive to the local library, ask for some advice, and start checking out the town (you say it's new to you?). Or call the local tourist office and go from there. I always try to find: a nice gourmet food shop, an interesting antiques store, and a book store (used or new). By the time I've done that and hit a tourist attraction or two, the whole day is gone and I've usually had a blast!

I'd google "Free things to do in_" (whatever your city, or nearby city) and find something to do.

Having a clean house to me is the best ever. I am so busy, I rarely have time to sort cabints and drawers, finish all the laundry. I would even clean my kids toy box.

I would spend 1/2 the day with that, then play by myself.
I would go to an indoor local pool near you. and sit in the hot tub for an hour, or more :). Near us there us about 4 all under 5$ for admission. I would sit and veg there and then go home and watch netflix, with a glass of wine. I Also might make a fancy dinner for the evening for hubby, if he was coming home on time.

I have the whole day off by myself as well. I'm spending it painting my bathroom. I know it doesn't sound like fun, more of a chore, but it is instant gratification to have a beautiful, clean room at the end of the day. I just crank up the tunes, sing like an idiot and paint away.

I'd pop on the radio and scrapbook til I couldn't stand it no more. :cool1:

Depending on my mood and time of year, I would lay on the couch and read, clean the house (big stuff like closets, etc.), go golf, go to the mall. Today specifically I would do some cleaning this morning since I have company coming tomorrow and spend the afternoon reading.

go explore my new town. stop by the library and sign up for a card if I don't already have one, see if they offer free passes to a local museum, go explore that.

or curl up in a ball and read one of the many good books piling up on my bookcase waiting for me to have a day just like that. :)

Stop at the library and pick up a book on cd & a chick flick, play CD in the car while I drive around town & in the house while I make dinner, stop to get my favorite lunch then head home for lunch & a movie. I would probably sneak a bath with bubbles in there somewhere.

Have a lovely day:goodvibes

Probably watch some of my recorded TV shows and stay in my PJs!!

Bake something good, while watching my favorite tv shows. Watch some movies while vegging on the couch. Definitely stay at home.

I'd go see an early movie and maybe do a little light shopping if I decide to go out. If I stay home, I'd clean a closet and play on the computer. I'd also take care of some piled up paperwork. (Ugh.)
