I haven't been around much for the past couple of months, because we've been going crazy between closing on the new house, painting/ripping up carpets/etc., moving a ridiculous amount of stuff from a small house to an even smaller house (we're a pair of packrats), and dealing with one problem after another while we try to get the old house ready to sell. Two months after we closed on the new house, and the old house still isn't ready to list for sale. *sigh*
It became apparent a while ago that we were not going to have the house sold in time for us to take a trip to the World in October for F&W this year, so we started talking about going in December, to see the holiday decorations, Candlelight Processional, Very Merry Christmas Party, etc. I started to get really excited about seeing how magical the World might be all decorated for Christmas.
Then my DP gets word at work that she is being put in charge of an additional department. On the positive side, additional responsibility adds to job security, which is a very good thing in this economy. The bad part is that the busy season for this department runs from October to mid-January. That means working late nights and weekends, and definitely no vacation during this time.
Now, I have the most wonderful partner on the planet, and she has suggested that I go ahead and take the trip without her, because "a change in my job situation shouldn't mean that you have to miss out on something." Especially since she will be working a long of late nights and weekends during December, so I wouldn't see much of her anyway. I have some vacation days that need to be used by the end of the year.
So, do I take her up on it? I've done solo days during past trips, when she took a couple of days to go visit her Mom a few houses from WDW, but I've never done a completely solo trip to the World. (This would probably be a 5 night trip.)
What would you do?
