What Would You Do?

Just returned from an eight day trip to WDW. Our first night we stayed at The Boardwalk before our week long stay at SSR. We really liked the Boardwalk, we had a pool view on the first floor.

The problem/question I have for all of you is this:
When we woke up in the morning we had no hot water (ice cold). As I later learned, many rooms in the section of the building we were in had none either.

Should I have been compensated or is that just the way it goes? I chose the latter. What would you have done?

If you had stayed longer than one night there, and the same problem still existed, I would say they should give you some type of compensation. But, since you only stayed there one night, I would let it go. I would also write a letter to the Boardwalk stating the problem you had, so hopefully it son't happen again.

Stuff happens. I'd have gone down to the front desk to see what was going on (calling usually just gets you to a centralized gorup who seldom know what is going on in the resort, lol). Once I found out they were working on the problem, I'd move on with my plans for the day.

I don't think things like that require compensation. Again, sometimes stuff just happens. You deal with it and move on. JMHO.

If you brought it to attention of front desk that would not have meant or guaranteed any type of compensation for your inconvenience (it would have been helpful if there was repair that needed to be made or if it is ongoing issue that they need to investigate & pinpoint cause) ; perhaps if they had a similar unit available they may have offered it for your use during the hours remaining until check-out time so you could shower with hot water but that would have depended on a number of things too - capacity, guests expected to check-in that day...
