What would you do?

DS and DD will both be celebrating their birthdays while at Disney. DS will celebrate his a couple of days late (flame away), while we´re staying onsite, and DD will celebrate her´s on the actual day, which happens to be our first day offsite.

I have ADR´s for lunch at Sci Fi for DS (his request) and breakfast at Crystal Palace for DD (also her request).:goodvibes

I have been thinking of ordering cakes for them but really can´t seem to be able to justify the cost, considering we´re on the DDP so desserts are included at the Sci Fi and Crystal Palace is a buffet with desserts anyway.

I made remarks about their birthdays when I made the ADR´s and now I´m worried one might get something like a cupcake, and the other might not. Not something that would ruin my vacation ;) but still somewhat un-magical on their birthdays.

Is it likely that DS might not get anything (he would be o.k. with that, and just getting a dessert at Sci Fi) and then DD might get something (and THEN DS would be upset)? Or the other way around, him getting something and her getting her hopes up and then not recieving anything?

Oh, I´m overplanning. But what would you do?

no flames from me. We celebrated everyone's bday a different night except DD4 and hers was on the actual day of. And mine was not celebrated. I am just the mom.:rolleyes1

I made sure to tell the server again just in case they didn't see it on the ticket and a cupcake was brought for that particular person. @CP they even had confetti sprinkled on the table for DH. He asked when we were seated, "does everyone get confetti on their table?" :rotfl: He was very surprised to get a cupcake. BTW, the server was great in surprising him for me.

No flames from me either. We celebrated my 50th last September and my birthday wasn't until December and we celebrated our 25th anniversary just a couple of weeks ago (and the anniversary was actually in May). Disney understands not everyone can be at Disney on their birthdays, anniversaries, etc.--so no worries.

I would try to say make a little reminder at the podium when you check in that you are celebrating TWO birthdays so that neither of the kids feels neglected.

Congrats on you 50th and the 25 years of marriage :lovestruc

If I tell the CM´s we´re celebrating 2 birthdays I´m afraid it won´t feel as special to the kids, since they both really just wanted one day of celebrating. We´ll see...

I should have said at the "podium" of each restaurant. I think they will at least bring a cupcake to each. I got a cupcake/slice of cake at every restaurant last year for my 50th except one (DH had it put on the ADR's). Crystal Palace is REALLY good about this. They decorate the tables with confetti, etc. We haven't done Sci-Fi in ages (you could also mention it to the waiter/waitress who comes to your table) so not sure what they do for birthdays.

The dining reservation CM asked me if anyone had a birthday/anniversary/etc during our trip. I let them know that my birthday would be during our trip. I told her the specific day, but once we were at WDW, every table service meal we had scheduled knew that it was my bday.

Almost every restaurant had confetti on the table, gave me a cupcake, and sang or wished me happy birthday...even though it was not my bday on all of those days.

We took our granddaughter and my DH mentioned to our waiter at the GF that the trip was a bday present for her, but that her bday had actually been 2 months prior to the trip. They brought her a princess tiara (a plastic "bday hat" type one) and a special cupcake just for her. I thought that was really nice. BTW, she wound up with my cupcakes everywhere else too...

I wouldn't worry about it actually being on "the day". I've found that the best thing to do is be honest with the CMs when making your reservations and they are usually very generous.
