im am so upset:mad: and very angry. i just bought my 8 yo son a pair of crocs 2 weeks ago form crocs.com. well he took off his shoes and this girl who is 9 threw them and now we cant find one!!! did she help look for them-no. did she say she was sorry -no does her parents know what she did -yes. this little girl comes over every wed. to her grandmas house who lives across the street. im shock because i talk to the grandma everyday it would be different if i didnt know the family!! maybe im over reacting, but im so upset!!

I don't think you are over reacting. I wouldn't let her come over anymore or at least for a few weeks and when you do let her come back over, I would tell her that she needs to treat other peoples thing with respect and if she doesn't listen, I would send her little butt back to Grandma's! LOL

I hope you find the Croc, they are not cheap.

When the missing croc is found, she can come to play again. If not, she doesn't. That's the consequence. Nine is certainly old enough to know to respect other people's things.

it just shocks me that her mom didnt make her look for the shoe are didnt say hey i will pay for half or just even im sorry!! if my son would have done that to her shoes i would have made him tell her his sorry looked for the shoe until it was dark and if it wasnt found. i has the mother would have told her i would pay for her to get some new shoes. then what really got me upset was they all went inside to go eat like nothing happened and then she has the nerves to say have you found the shoe as shes riding her bike.

Just curious - where did she throw it that it can't be found?

I don't blame you for being steamed. I would outright ask her parents to replace the shoes - they're responsible for their daughter's actions. At the very least, that would motivate them to help you look for it.

we have some of those across the street....3 of them. They used to just come visit grandma once in a while but now they seem to have moved in. similar things happened to us last year with these kids. The older boy (8-9 years old) would constantly take DS's things without asking, let grandmas dog chew up Ds's stuff. and the last incident was stealing DH's pellet gun out of our enclosed back porch (we were not home so theres no way he should have been where he was). The mother was always telling us to come to her with problems but she would never do anything to punish the kid or offer to pay for items that her son damaged. Needless to say, they are not allowed near my property anymore.

The whole family has no respect for other peoples property and I dont need that kid being a bad influence on my kid.

back on topic....crocs are expensive (and if you got them from crocs.com then you most likely paid full price for them). I'd be mad too. I would say something to the mother if you dont find the shoes, though you cant really force her to pay for them (just gotta hope she does the right thing).

That happened to my daughter at a playground. One of her shoes fell off while she was going down the slide and then mysteriously disappeared. Our entire playdate searched everywhere. I think it would be worse if I knew who did it, and I was furious! Maybe you can talk to the grandma about it. Good luck!

:goodvibes i found the missing croc!! it was in our bushes on the side of the house. it was kind of hard to see since it was brown. im so glad i didnt have to buy a new pair!!!:woohoo:

I'm glad you found the Croc :). It's disheartening (and angering) that the girl's parents didn't have her apologize, and didn't out-right offer to buy another pair of Crocs. If you hadn't found the Croc, I would've bought a new pair and sent them a copy of the receipt with a note saying, "This is the receipt for the new pair of shoes I bought for my son. My address is: ~".
