Hello,

okay we leave on March 12,which is a few weeks away but I took my daughter to the doctor friday & she has bronchitis.I have bronchitis as well but I am actually going back to Dr. tomorrow because I think I may have Pneumonia.
I am thinking of rebooking for May when the kids are out of school.There is sooo much yuck going around right now I am concerned about our trip.I dont want us to be coughing our heads off.Should I wait till the end of this week to see how we progress or what? I am just concerned because I have heard the cough with bronchitis can last for weeks & I dont want to be coughing all day during our trip. Any suggestions,have any of you had bronchitis while on vacation? This is a first for us so I am a little paranoid i guess.I feel lousy,very very very tired, I am coughing stuff up which is good but I want a chest x-ray done tomorrow because i think i have something more than bronchitis.I dont have insurance so that is why we did not do the x-ray on friday but i am going to tell her to go ahead & do it.

Wait for the results. Sometimes a nice relaxing vacation in the warmth is just what is needed to fix those bronchial ailments.

well, since the title of your thread is what would you do, i hope you are ready for this answer. everybody that is not into tough love please refrain from reading. please do not read this response if you are at all inclined to tell me i am not a nice person. i am not asking for responses to my post, the op is the one that asked what would you do?






i would cancel my trip until i could afford a chest xray. taking a trip to florida and not getting a chest xray because of no insurance is some priorities that are way out of whack. taking care of your medical needs seems like a higher priority than a trip to florida. just my opinion.

we did not get the chest x-ray due to money,she just did not give the x-ray because we are private pay,i do have the money for an x-ray she just diagnosed me with bronchitis,she did listen to my lungs but I am the one thinking I have more than bronchitis,maybe not but maybe so.No we dont have insurance but yes i have the money for the x-ray.I just dont want to go coughing like this.LOL

I agree some nice sunshine would be great.

You might want to re-read the OP.The Dr didn't order an X-ray but the OP plans on asking for one. No where did the OP say they couldn't afford the Xray.

OP...I wouldn't delay the trip yet. Wait until after you go to Dr Mon.
However..Im my experience, crowd levels are better in mid-late may than they are during spring break(mid march to mid April).

thanks sha lyn we went to HRH last May with my sister,& the weather was awesome & the crowds were not bad until Memorial Day weekend.We also went to Disney last spring break & me & my daughter were laid up in bed most of the week due to allergies,omg they kicked our rears bad.We were home in bed each day by 6 pm.It was awful.LOL.I laugh now but we are seriously thinking of rebooking to May.There is so much yuck going around,my mom called today & my dad is sick again!!! You get over 1 thing than catch something else.I just think May will be better all the way around.When we go in March we are actually having to take 1 day off of school as well,plus the plane leaves at 4:45 & we get out of school at 2:45 & the airport is a 45 minute drive so we would be cutting it close there as well.So the more we think about it the more we think May will be better.I mean it is only a 60 day delay.LOL..... I just want some sunshine & for all to get well.

Well if it was me I would wait cause I too have bronchitis and can't get rid of it due to smoking and yes before you say it I know its my fault and I should quit but I also have bad allergies to the point my eyes swell up and plus I have bad back and pinched nerves in my neck but unless a doctor told me no you can't go then no matter how bad I feel then we go cause my wife works so hard and kids don't get to travel so I am just a stubborn guy and besides seems like I feel better when we get away.

okay well we talked about it tonight & I went ahead & re-booked for May 25-31
I hate to be there over Memorial Day again but we have decided it will be best.
We had 8 teachers gone on Friday due to the yuck going around.I just dont want to be there coughing my head off like some fool.I mean those that have had bronchitis know this cough can linger for awhile.Even though we are not contagious it is just ridiculous.My hubby has had his cough for over 2 weeks now
We get out of school on May 23,so this will be an awesome time to go.We leave at 9:55 am & get to Orlando at 3:00 pm so plenty of time to check in & maybe hit the pool & relax.I hated to do it but this time frame has us not so rushed getting to the airport & has us arriving at a decent hour.Our trip in March was gonna land at like 11pm at night so what a drag.Anyway thanks for all the get wells & help,you guys are awesome on here.I am off to the Dr. tomorrow to get an x-ray just to clear my own mind.LOL.Hopefully i will just have bronchitis & can get back to work soon.So now I have to wait a little longer but just think now I dont have to wonder if the Simpsons ride will be open by then cause it should be ready to roll by May 25!!! whohoooo

Well, I was going to say that I personally wouldn't cancel. Then again, I live for vacations & have never had bronchitis. So, what do I know?

Since you were really 2nd guessing going in March, I think you made a good decision in rescheduling. The excitement leading up to the trip is 1/2 the fun!

Most of all, here's what I do: I'd completely ignore anyone who voiced an opinion on how I should spend my money.

thanks tarheelmjfan, I hated to reschedule but our March trip was hectic from the beginning lol so this trip is so much more relaxed plus my kids are excited about the simpsons ride plus I am looking into going to the blue man show with them!!!

Glad you made a decision that you a happy with. There is nothing worse than worrying about a vacation! (well there is, but vacation anticipation should be good not bad)

thanks Damo, i feel so much more relaxed now,i have called PBH & went online & redid my southwest flights & contacted garden grocer & our transportation!!!


All is done now,now fees anywhere either,gotta love that southwest online rescheduling,i did have to pay 28.50 more for our fares but they may go down between now & May so no biggie there.I actually feel relieved by doing this now instead of waiting,plus we get to ride the new Simpsons ride.LOL

We've been the week before Memorial Day, and it was great. Haven't been during Memorial Day weekend, but we were there this past Labor Day weekend and it wasn't too crowded at all. In fact on Labor Day the parks were nearly empty! Get there early, about 30 minutes before the parks open because they often open the gates before opening time. You can get a lot done in the morning hours before the main crowds arrive.

well went back today & all is clear on the x-ray,so my doctor said "be patient Denise" lol....yeah yeah sure. lol...... so I am going back to work tomorrow & counting down on my new ticker to May 25 to stay at PBH.... My school called today & said the stomach flu is going around now so I am coming in tomorrow with germ-x in my pocket & wiping down the desks after every class.... I am very excited to have re-booked for May we will just sit home for spring break & read the dis boards & hopefully be looking at photos of the new simpsons ride
