What would YOU do?! (yes another stroller question)

I have a 2 year old DD & 4 year old DS and we NEVER use stroller in our everyday life, yet I know we'll need one for WDW. I have a side by side double that has a basket & canopy and folds easily and that's what I've planned all along. BUT now that I use my brain for half a second I have to realize that those quick trips out to eat and just to DTD, half day at the parks, etc. we won't need a double for my DS. I would just as soon have a single umbrella for DD at those times, which will probably be like once a day or so.

Is it crazy to contemplate bringing a double AND a single? How could we do this at the airport? Can we check one at the gate so we have it for flight transfers and can we check the other with our luggage?

What would YOU do?!

I would just take the double. We used the double everyday even though both kids didn't sit in it all the time. I found that we used it for packages, etc...anyway. When I go to Disney I try and pack as light as possible, taking two strollers just seems like a hassle to me. And sometimes when I think my son wouldn't use the stroller, he did anyway so it was nice to have the double just in case. The last thing I want to do is carry someone through the park!

I agree - take the double. Your son may use it more than you think. There is ALOT of walking. When are you going? If the weather will be hot, he will tire out more quickly. Or, he can use it for a bit, and walk for a bit, taking turns. If you only have the single, he won't have the option. You will also be able to move alot quicker with them in the stoller. You won't have to worry that one has wandered off, etc.

Here's a weird question... if and when people lose or leave behind single strollers... do they ever let other guests use them? I mean, it must happen a lot and eventually - what else would they do with the strollers??

I would take the double. You might be surprised at how often, if it is available, your DS4 will want to ride in the stroller. My DS4 does not use a stroller at home and does not nap at home--not since he was two. But at WDW, he does both. It is wonderful to let him nap in the stroller and to not deal with a dragging little body (even before he starts to complain) by having a double with us. Just better safe than sorry. Plus, there is a million other reasons how you might use the extra space.

check one and push the other to the gate.

I took a double to Hawaii for one child (tell me that didn't look weird ;)). It made it easier for gate transfers as I was traveling alone.

Also--my sister--who has no kids--brought an umbrella stroller with her...b/c not every where we were going to go required the double. So me with one kid and a double and her with no kids and a single.

I don't think it odd at all if you travel with both :)

I would take just the double as well. If nothing else, you can use the extra space for all the packages at DTD! Anyway, do you really want to have 2 strollers in your room, or can you even fit 2 strollers in a rental car? (or maybe you are using ME). Totally not worth it, IMO. With two kids and one with a diaper bag, etc. I would try to pare down what you can.

I would go along with everyone else that says you might be surprised.... My 5 year old who has not sat in a stroller for years loved being able to hop in when she wanted. It also made for a quicker and easier move time when we were in a hurry or in a crowd. I didn't have to worry about losing her or waiting for her to catch up.

They put them in lost and found and eventually sell them at Property Control - along with all the sunglasses, cameras, cell phones, hats, dentures, backpacks, and kitchen sinks that never get claimed.

I'll add to the just bring the double.

We've got two kids that don't ordinarily use strollers but we do use our doublewide for disney only.

We did bring the umbrella single once but they fought over who got to ride in it. What a waste of space it was.

You'll be amazed at how much they jump in and out of it. You'll also be amazed at how much faster you can move with both of them in it.
