I am trying to clean up our bedroom and I have a corner full of pictures going back since before Tanya was born so say maybe 20 years. I am trying to go through them all. What a job and oh what memories. Most of these pictures are duplicates of pictures already in the scrapbooks and lots are really bad pictures that I would never scrap. For some reason I can't seem to let go of them though. So my question to all of you is what would you do with them all? Put them in a big rubbermaid container (the ones I'll never scrap and the duplicates to the ones I have)? Put the ones I want to scrap in some type of order and store them in a few photo boxes?

UGH!!! I never realized how many pictures I've taken over the years. I really can't keep all these photos what am I to do?

How about making a collage of some sort with the ones you want to keep? You can put that in a scrapbook or even frame a 10 x 13 of a collage of pics.

I have an idea for duplicate pics....

All of my unused duplicate pics and negatives I date and then give to my sister to "hold". We do this for each other. She will put my pics in a clear tote in her garage for "safe keeping", and I do the same for her. That way if either of us has a fire (or more likely) or a hurricane destroy our homes, we'll have a copy of some of our beloved photos.

Get them scanned and saved onto CD or DVD. That way they will be preserved for generations to come. I would still save the actual pictures though.

I can totally relate to the accumulation quantity you have. Last winter I went through several bins and put everything into slip in page albums. These are now in with the rest of the albums but with the idea that they WILL be scrapped (some day...).

That being said I've been pretty good about not hanging on to duplicates and unscrappables. Although I did find myself getting reprints made over the weekend of some particular shots as I did grad gift albums. But I never would have enough dups anyway.

If you can't bear the thought of getting rid of them how about sharing them? For instance, is there a special friend featured in some of them over the years who is graduating, moving, getting married that you might do a small book for? What about a retrospective for grandparents, etc? Just some thoughts. In addition to preserving my own memories the biggest kick I get out of my photography is sharing it with others!
