What would YOU do with a 650 sq ft extra living area?

I like the idea of a family/play room type area. That way you can have a more formal (adult) type living room for entertaining.

We have the same kind of room at the top of our stairs. For new, it's more of a playroom/hangout for the kids, but as they get older, it will evolve more into a family room. I love the whole Texas thing with the game room at the top of the stairs. It's like a surprise.

I do, too, but I can't imagine not having a basement. Well, I shouldn't say that since we lived in Texas for 5 years and didn't have a basement, but we didn't have teenagers then. It's great to have a rec room and a playroom and be able to send the teens down there. But of course that doesn't work with the TX water table, that is if you don't want it filling with water. :teeth:

I think I would make it a family room / future playroom for now. When the kids get older, it would be perfect for a gameroom / hangout room. Maybe put a little fridge in there and keep sodas in it and some snacks for the kids. I wish we had room for something like that in our house.

A friend of mine actually has a microwave and small fridge in her game room for her teens to hang out with their friends.

Yeah no basements here in Texas. I would use the area for the kids. Have it set up like a living room but with their games and toys and such. Having a 3 yr old and 5 yr old we have a ton of toys in our living room (of course it doesnt help any we have an extra kid living in our house, in what would be the little ones room, til May). Then we can move some toys up there.

Depends - I would probably turn it into a scrapbook room! Other ideas: game room (complete with pool table), movie room (big screen and a comfy couch), play room (if you have kids).
