What would you do with 8K?

With 8K, I'd rent points to get a larger room at a Deluxe resort. Here's pricing for the second week in February 2022. You could do a split stay to get the best of both worlds.

I was actually thinking about that but was a bit nervous about doing this during ‘covid times’. If covid gets bad again this winter, and Disney shuts down, wouldn’t I be out the money for the resort rental? Or do you not think this is something I should fret about?

Something to think of when booking: Mardi Gras break is Feb. 27-March 6. That's usually a really busy time in the parks because many families from Louisiana are out of school and vacationing to Disney or Colorado.

I have a 6-yr-old & 4-yr-old and their BEST DISNEY DAY EVER was at SAB during Thanksgiving. (We had camped at FW for the week and were only staying there 1 night before driving back home.) We could not pry them away from the sandy-bottom pool and they loved every single moment of being there. If we'd been there longer, they would have begged to swim at SAB every day. Plus, Hurricane Hannah's serves kids' meals in the cutest sand pails and the kids had a blast with those. They also loved getting ice cream from Beaches & Cream and mobile ordering breakfast and dinner from Ale & Compass. Hands down, I would recommend staying there with your littles!

I'm a newbie as I've only recently done a trip when my daughter was 4. But my now two kids will be similar in age (7 and 23 months). We are going with YC. My 7 year old will be floored by SAB, and we underestimated how much she loved pool days at Port Orleans. While it's not super duper themed, that's OK. I like that it gives that transition from park craziness. We wanted to have plenty of places to walk and wander to because our toddler is used to taking long walks, and often sleeps in her stroller. It's nice to feel like there's a boardwalk neighborhood to visit (and do stroller laps). YC/BC doesn't have a playground. We are going in the summer so it's not a dealbreaker for us. In February I might consider it.

What I would say I learned from our first trip is that what was important to my little one was sooo not what we expected. She really enjoyed being with the other kids doing activities in the pool, and would prefer to go on one or two rides multiple times. Literally she talked more about the pool than anything else. She didn't care for costumed characters, just the "face" ones. With this trip I'm letting everyone know they can pick one activty each, and if we only end up doing those 4 things each day that's fantastic.
