Okay, so here's the deal:

My cousin and his wife to whom I am very close, were talking about getting a new bed (mattress, boxspring, the works). I house sit for them often and had remarked what a comfortable bed they had (they know I sleep in it when they're gone). They said they didn't like it and were planning to get a new one after Christmas. Fast foward to now. They have bought a new one and called to tell me. Problem is, my cousin's brother (also my cousin) just broke up with his girlfriend and moved into a new apartment. He doesn't have any furniture because his ex is crazy (pycho) and is keeping everything.

Problem is, I feel guilty taking the bed knowing that he needs one. Problem is, I need one too. Their mattress is only 2 years old. Mine is like 7 years. I cannot afford to buy a new one now. Before anyone remarks about my upcoming trips in my sig (you know someone is going to), one is for work, and the other one, although planned, has not been deposited or paid for yet.

So, should I take the bed knowing that he will not have one (I'm sure he'll get one) or should I let them give it to him, knowing I'll feel better but my back won't. Keep in mind, they promised the bed to me way before he wound up in this situation. Which, by the way, he's been in before and could run back to this crazy girl the minute she gives him a chance (this is a whole new thread, next on Jerry, "Relatives who continually make poor choices" :teeth: ).

But, what is family for. Oh, I'm so :confused3 Any advice?

That's what I was going to post as well. Just give the one you already have away. He's a guy, he won't even notice! :rotfl2:

I would take the mattress set and give him my old one as well. I need a new mattress so badly. I am not getting a good nights sleep because of it and have been suffering from extreme fatigue and headaches because of it. I am investing in one as soon as I get some money up. If one were offered to me for free I

I wasnt finished typing...

I wouldnt hesitate to take the mattress! Good luck! :thumbsup2

i agree with everyone else

Geat suggestion. Give him your old one and you take the newer one. Everybody wins. :thumbsup2

Why don't you take the newer bed and give other cousin your old bed?

That way he still has something to sleep on!
This was what I was going to day to. Now about those trips........

you're getting teased. I think you are more than generous in offering him your old mattress.

thanks! :teeth: boy do i feel silly now.

Anyway, it all worked out. He did get a mattress and box spring on his own so I don't have to worry about it. Whew. I feel alot better.

I am going to try to donate my mattress and boxspring to someone who may need it. I know a couple of local charities that would welcome it.

Thanks again to all who offered advice. You guys are the best! :worship:
