We took our stroller and were very glad we did!
Younger DS at 5 1/2 never uses one at home, but we still had our McLaren buggy folded up in the porch - slightly faded and battered from years of use, but possesing the advantages of a basket and a shade, plus intact raincover which folded up very small into the basket (small enough to fold with it inside). We used this most days - on the odd day we decided to leave it DH found it a chore carrying the water bottles and snacks (we had fanny packs, so there wasn't really that much in it, but water weighs heavy!). We used it mainly to carry our stuff (especialy rainwear between showers
and water shoes for Kali), but on the day after younger DS was sick
he was not very lively and glad of the stroller. It was also useful if we wanted to move quickly between rides because FP slots were coming up.
The only problem we had folding it was the clip that holds it closed had been damaged between check-in and baggage reclaim so we had to hold it shut on the buses - we just left it up in the room (usually with a Mickey poncho drying on it
) and even in the car sometimes (that SUV was ROOMY!). We had always planned to throw it away after the holiday but our final day in Epcot (record rainfall!) finished it off in any case.
For a 2-week holiday rental would have been over $100 - you can buy a lot of Mickey bars for that
. We thought the plastic hire buggies looked less comfortable - cold in the chilly weather and clammy when it got hot.
My sister has 4 kids (youngest was nearly 6) and bought a stroller in Walmart for £12 just to last her 3-week trip.
