What would you do on departure day?

I just made a last minute change to my train reservation coming back from Orlando on 3/6, it was previously departing at 1:30 and now it's departing at 7:30pm, so I have almost a whole other day for my trip! Obviously I'm checking out of AKL that morning too. My only plan that day is a Boma breakfast reservation. Am I able to store my suitcase at the resort if I go to a park or somewhere else?

Also, looking for recommendations on what to do with my time! I'm thinking maybe DTD so I don't have to buy another park ticket...what do you typically do if you have a late departure?

I would go to the Poly and rent Sea racers and ride around on the lake. Or rent a bike at WL and ride over to the FW.

I have a similar day. I am going to the Grand Floridian to watch the early morning Parasol Parade. I am then going to eat breakfast at the resort and have a really great 4 hour spa package and then just lounge at the spa (after your services you can stay and enjoy the hot tubs, etc) until its time to get my Express bus to the airport.

Bell Services will gladly store your luggage.

I enjoy DTD on the last day. Just don't get to many souvenirs since you'll already be packed!

I actually like this idea a lot and now you have me thinking of doing the same! Are you going to bring your luggage to the GF?

Leave the last day somewhat open for whatever you wanted/tried to do earlier in your trip but for some reason, it didn't work out. This gives you another chance to go on the ride that was broken down, meet the character who was on break, dine at that one restaurant you couldn't fit into your schedule before, etc. This gives you some leeway and makes the earlier part of your trip more relaxing.

Although, I also like the other ideas that were mentioned here.

I'm just leaving it at my hotel with the bell staff. When I get back from the spa I will stuff my swimsuit in my luggage (in a plastic bag of course) and be on my way.

What I'm thinking now is to jettison my HS plans for arrival day and move them to departure day instead, and on arrival day just take my time exploring the resort and taking in the atmosphere and then head over to the Boardwalk for some nightlife. I'll save my 4th park ticket for my departure day and hit HS early instead, since that will actually give me more hours in the park.

This all sounds good, but remember it would only cost you about $10 to extend your ticket another day.

If you do this, since I assume you bought your ticket pre-price increase, use your ticket at least once before you upgrade it.

(I'm not sure if $10 is the increment from a 4 day to a 5 day anymore with the new ticket prices...)

When I have a late departure and not visiting the parks I typically go to DTD. I have also hung out by the pool and visited other resorts. BTW, yes the hotel will store your luggage.

They will most definitely hold your suitcase for you. :)

We stay at AKV-K and we always go to Animal Kingdom on the last day because of the close proximity. Even if our flight leaves 6, we have to be there for ME around 3. If it takes the bus a while, I dont have to worry about missing Magical Express. We generally do Boma for breakfast and then go to Animal Kingdom and catch Nemo and Lion King.

Another option, which we have done, is go to Downtown Disney for lunch and some last minute shopping. You wont want lunch after having breakfast at Boma, but maybe a coffee or ice cream from Ghirardelli. :)

I had a similar departure time on my last trip. I slept in a bit, and didn't leave the resort until just before check out time. Then I drove over to the Poly and resort hopped all the resorts on the monorail loop. I shopped, took photos, and had lunch. I had wanted to spend the day at Downtown Disney, but all the construction scared me away.
