What would you do? Experience in Gty status?

I am looking to plan a cruise but right now all cat 10 and 9 are in gty status. I would like two rooms. Does Disney try to keep the rooms together if they are linked together? I can not afford a cat 8 or higher....
And right now dinner is only late seating...last time we had late seating and hated it....I tried to get it changed with no luck.
If it helps, I am looking at Oct. 1 2011---

It is very unlikely that you would get gty rooms near one another let alone together. If you need them together, wait for a sailing that has it.
Same with early/main dinner seating... If you wouldn't be happy with what you've got, don't book it.
KSF pretty much takes up the lower categories & early seating for all the same reasons you want them.

I don't think there is a KSF promotion going on...is there? On the magic? Please let me know...I am just have never been in this spot before...

The KSF program is for the Wonder cruises Oct - mid Dec.

Just to throw in our experience on a Med repro cruise.

We had 2 cat.12 gtys 1 adult / 1 child in each, that were linked.

We ended up with 2 cat11s, not only next door to each other, but also they were both on deck 6 which we were very happy about. . They weren't connecting though... but this did not matter to us.

I'm sure based on this experience that Disney do TRY to keep linked gtys together - though I suspect they will not guarentee it.

It's true you may end being pixie-dusted from time to time when you book GTY and end up with a higher room level - but my personal rule of thumb is to never book anything if I wouldn't be 100% happy getting exactly what I booked - that includes stateroom category, whether or not they're adjoining or even close to each other, and the dining rotation.

They do *TRY* to keep you close together, but this is not a guarantee of course.
We booked two cat 12 gty before and ended up with side by side cat 11's on deck 6

I agree with poster who said you should be prepared for a room in your category decks apart. But as they do try to keep you together. We booked two VGT rooms for our upcoming Med cruise and we just received two 6a rooms next to one another. Very happy, but I was prepared if it didn't happen.

We did a 6A gty room for the Magic in April. Our reservation was "tied" to friends so that we'd have dining together; they also had a 6A gty. We both ended up in 5B rooms and we were next to each other. I think they try to keep your rooms together but cannot, of course, guarantee it.

DH and I booked our Alaskan cruise last year while on the Wonder back on October. We booked 2 Cat 11B's (gty), we're taking our 2 adult "kids". We wanted the cabins to be as close as possible. We also had late seating which was not our first choice coming from the east and with the time zone changes, but we booked and hoped for the best. When the rooms were assigned we were at opposite ends of the 6th deck but we were moved to early seating. So a phone call to DCL and they were able to put us side by side. Spoke with a very nice CM.

I understand about possibly not being next to each other, but opposite ends, especially when booked and linked together???? As for dining seating, I think early seating fills up first, then when final payment or when you would start to lose your deposit happens, early seating has openings and requests are filled. I could be wrong, but that seems like what happens.

Word of advice, continue to check online, and make a phone call if need be. Then with the help of a little pixie dust all will be well.

Only you can determine if it's a deal breaker for you. If you can be happy with whatever you're assigned then go for it. If not, keep watching as people cancel up to the penalty date so something might pop up.
