Ok if you have only 5 days to be at Disney as this is sort of unplanned trip and you were going to be there around your bday and it is Halloween weekend what would be your plan....

YOu would arrive on a Thursday and not leave until Monday, Halloween.

You are staying onsite....but you only have 3 day base tickets. You could go to MK and MNSSHP on 10-28-05 or 10-30-05. Now the 28th is a Firday and the 30th is a Sunday. Now being this is in Ocotber here are some questions...

1) how is the weather at this time

2) how are the crowds compared to the past years around this time of Halloween weekend

3) Your first day is a Thursday, would you use one of your park days or just chill out around yoru resort and others and possibly ride boats and resort hop on that day

4) being that MNSSHP is on a Friday and a Sunday, would you go on the Friday or would you go on that Sunday and why? Crowds on Firday and Sunday at MK and being Halloween weekend?

5) if you are going to also do Epcot and Disney Studios, what day would you do that on, Saturday or Sunday and which is best crowd wise?

6) What are the hours of the parks for this time in October?

7) Will they be showing spectro at this time or is it only on a certian day during this time of year?

8) Are they still doing where you can have 3 extra hours in the park at night and if so, which parks on which days and how much...

Thanx for all your help...

Okak-- I've been the last 2 years in October. The first week and the last week. The first week being downright HOT-- the last week being mid 80's, very humid (not sunny though) and on and off rain.

MNSSHP-- the 30th will probably sell out-- I honestly think we might see the 28th sell out too being the last Friday before Halloween. So, I think both are going to be equal crowds. That said I would still pick Sunday. If you go Friday and stay the whole time, you may be tired the next morning. If you're tired Monday it's okay because you're headed home.

EMH will still be running but the days won't be announced until 60 days out. I would wait on that to pick which park which day. Also, when are you arriving on Thursday?? If it's early enough-- then I would go to whichever park is open latest that evening. Go to that one. I'd do parks Friday and Saturday. Then Sunday I'd spend the day relaxing. You can usually enter the MK at 4pm w/ only your MNSSHP ticket-- I'd do this and take advantage of the extra 3 hours.

As for Spectro, it does not run nightly in October. Usually once or twice a week.

Whichever day you do The Party, I would not use a ticket for that day - you'll be up late and you can most likely gain access to MK around 4pm with your ticket. Use that day for shopping/hotel touring/DTD

You should have no problems swimming in October. Light jacket for evenings.

Thanx for the repsonse, but what about the last day being on Halloween? We were planning on Resort hopping. One of the reasons for the picking the parks on what days is because I wanted to do some PS for us like at Sci Fi for DIsney Studios and do Chef Mickey's the day we were going to MK. But that first day, we were thinking of DTD and Earl of sandwich and then Ohanas that night, then I could go to Disney Quest while DW relaxed from our drive at 4:00 am...

But I understand about if we go to the MMNSSHP on that SUnday, we would have an extra day to use for a park. But with the F&W festival, would it better to go to Epcot on a Friday or Saturday or even a Thursday?

Pretty hot. Some rain. It's not as bad as the summer, and quite managable. But it's Florida (and I'm from New England), so I always think it's hot.

Many people sensed there were higher crowds last year - I didn't find it so. The whole week I never waited more than 10-15 minutes for a ride and I did everything - just not at certain times. The only ride that consistently had long waits was Peter Pan and Test Track - so I always FP those.

Totally depends on you - personally, I can't wait to get to the parks, but you may not want to use up a full day admission if you can't be there all day.

Sunday. Although it's closer to Halloween it will be busy, I have a feeling that Friday will bring in tons more locals. Either way, it's going to be a busy night - make sure you get your tickets early.

Tough to say...probably won't make a huge difference either way. I'd lean toward Sunday at the Studios - many people like to relax on Sundays and head to Epcot. Sunday morning is also a great time at MK - for the first few hours. I usually go there and then park hop when it gets busy.

Last year they were pretty sparse - MGM until 7 or 8, MK until 6-9 (closes at 6 on MNSSHP nights, but was open until 10 on Saturday), and Epcot at it's normal 9-9. EMH at night will make this much more bearable, thankfully! In concert with MNSSHP you can stay out late a lot. ;)

Saturday night will likely be the only day you can see it. They don't do it on Friday or Sunday because of the parties.

We assume they will keep going. We have no idea which parks on which days, but generally each park gets one EMH night and one EMH morning per week. It will be months before this is out - we only just got the announcements for June. Even then, they tend to change (May's have changed three times in as many weeks!).

WHy dont you get he tickets for the MNSSHP for the Thurday? That should be a slower night. This way you can go to a park that day and no use a ticket. If you want to do "halloweenie" things on halloween you can go the boardwalk or DTD they ususally have free activities there,

I was in orlando for Halloween in 2004 and my kids thought haloween was every day. We did the MNSSHP on Thursday. We went to SW on the Saturday of halloween weekend they had some events and candy but the candy was all second rate. We spent the morning of Halloween at AK they had some cute stuff for kids there. Then that night we went to DTD. They were giving out tons of stuff the really good brand name candies too. On Monday morning my DS4 was looking for more candy boy did he have a let down!

The weather was really nice it rained a short time the hight we went tot he MNSSHP but that was it. We didnt leave until the end of the week and then it was getting chilly. Honestly i would bring a light jacket and a pair of jeans and a long sleeved shirt just in case.

As far as I know, MNSSHP's only occur on Sunday, Tuesday, and Fridays. Tuesday is indeed the slowest day, but it doesn't sound like the OP will be there then.

Yup, I didn't realize they had been offically announced this year. That's why I edited my post - I was wrong. :) Quick on the draw there, hehe.

Then I'd recomend Thurs as well - will definately be better than either Friday or Sunday.

See I didn't even realize that there was a party for Thursday the 27th. Now if we did that, what woudl you do on that Friday, Sat, and Sun since you would have 3 day base park tickets? WHich park is better for a Friday, Sat, and Sunday? We don't want to do AK.

The only Haloweenie thing we will be doing that day is leaving to come home that night. Other than that, it looks like resort hopping on Haloween...

So what about the crowds....

The reason i recomended the Thursday is because I went on the Thursday before halloween in 2004. I mentioned in in my post, plus i checked to make sure that it was being held that day first.

Last year on that date is was moderately crowded. It probably felt more crowded to me since i had 4 toddlers/preschoolers, one high schooler and a really young 22 y/o with me.

The parks werent that bad . Epcot will be relativley crowded any weekend in the fall due to the Food & Wine festival. MK on weekends is mroe crowded than weekdays. If you decide to do MNSSHP on Thursday you can get in at 4 pm with your ticket to the party. You can try and get some MK stuff done before the park closes ot try and get dinner at one of the sit down resturants at the park or at the monorail resorts.

If you do this you have to play the PS game and get up early on the 90 day mark as those ressies go very fast.

Between the halloween stuff and Food & Wine it is a fun time to visit. I little more crowded then say the middle of September before all this stuff starts but worth the few extra people.

This is what I did on Halloween day in 2003, the day we were leaving too. Disney releases Halloween pins that day and they are scattered at the parks and a few resorts. DH and I split up and got all of them! There was one pin at each of the four parks, one in DTD, and one at each of these resorts: CBR, All Star (can't remember which one), and CR. You will still have Disney transportation available to you so you can get around without a problem. Go to one of the parks first, and they can tell you where the other pins are (which resorts they will be at).

DH went to AK because they had EMH that morning, and I went to Epcot. After rope drop at Epcot, there was a small rush of people to get to the pin trading spot near the fountain. I thought the rest of the pin locations would be like that, but not so. No one was at MK or CR to get the pins.

It's fun to collect them all! I don't think I'll ever be in WDW for a major holiday again, so it was great to get all the pins. (I even got the CM exclusive pin)

Wheni was speaking of DTD they had a halloween party all weekend both Sat and Sun. There is no guarentee what they will ahve this year but i would bet that the weekend before halloween they would have something at DTD. You could spend the day at the parks and then go to DTD at night.

I would recommend going to Epcot on either Thursday or Friday because on the weekend the Food & Wine Festival gets much more crowded.
