I have a pair of mens leather boots--never worn!!! listed on ebay

the other day I got a bid:cool1:it still had a few days to run though--well it ended Sat--

yesterday I get a message through ebay that this guys "friend" used his ebay account and put in the bid as a joke!!!--very funny

so he asked if I could cancel the bid--I wrote back that I had turned down a few others different sites since I had his bid

actually this is the third time this happened within the last 2 months--people put in bids and then for one reason or another back out

the first was a textbook--she bought the book after she put in the bid just before it closed "I should sell it to someone else"

next was a jacket--this time the guy just got out of jail--his GF bailed him out!!!

gee its nice while your sitting in jail you can use the internet

Id like to give this guy a break--however like I said this is the 3rd time it happened

and Ive only been selling a yr!!!

thanks for any advice

I would write back that he has to retract his bid. You only get one free cancel a year and I wouldn't give that away. You get charged final value fees on any items that had bids (even if you cancel the bids) after your free one.

I would be careful, you dont want to risk negative feedback and by forcing the sale this could happen. Have him retract it and relist

thanks for the great advice--

Ill send him the message that he has to cancel the bid

I didn't know you only get on free cancel a yr--that's good to know

thanks again

They changed to only 1 free cancel a year last year or so. Before that sellers would cancel all bids right before the auction ended if they didn't like the price. To stop that, now you only get to cancel bids once per year without having to pay final value fees on the auction.

My DH just had that happen with his 1st eBay item that he was selling. Someone from UK bid $710 for new iPad Air and now he doesn't want to pay but he won't retract his bid. Seems like eBay has lots of scum on it.

If he won't retract the bid (can you even do that after the auction ends??) Just file an unpaid dispute through the resolution center. When he doesn't pay, ebay will cancel the auction and rescind your fees. Happens to me on occasion.

No kidding!

Your husband should have blocked international bidders. Electronic auctions are a high fraud area - never sell to anyone out of the U.S.

No, you cannot retract a bid after an auction ends.

I had an auction end with nonpayment, then filed non paying bidder report. A few days later the lady said her niece made the bud without permission, and wants to cancel bid. I tried, but there is no way to cancel a bid once the NPB is open. Even called EB customer service( she was clueless), who said would have to wait until end of response time (11/24) . I just checked, and still don't see any way to close the case ( and get FVF credit) unless Ifollow through the NPB report. Anybody know a way to cancel the transaction without buyer getting NPB hit?

The only way you get a Final Value Fee credit is to follow through on the Non-Paying Bidder report. A long time ago, I did allow someone to back out if they agreed to cover my fees, but ebay fees were much lower back then. If the buyer wants out without getting hit with the NPB, tell her how much it's going to cost you.

You are being conned. Don't believe her. Follow through with the non-paying bidder report.
