What would you do? Disneyland Short Escape Ponderings

I know that no one can decide for me but I've been going over this in my mind and I need to make a decision soon. I have a River Cruise booked in September and even though I am fully vaccinated, I don't want to go on the trip as I feel that even if it happens, it will be less special than it would be during "normal" times and it is too much money to spend for a trip that might be changed due to restrictions.

That said, I really want to travel this year so I was thinking of moving my deposit to a Disneyland Short Escape in October, but will it even happen? At first I thought no, but now the park is open and the CDC keeps lessening restrictions so I feel positive that the park may be fully open in October (wishful thinking?), but I don't want to book it and have to change it again. The trip already has 37 people so I need to book now if I am booking it. My other option is to just move my deposit to a placeholder for the future but then I would potentially lose out on this trip if it fills up.

What would you do? Does anyone think it is possible that these Disneyland trips will happen in the Fall?

I personally think it's highly possible that this trip may run by October. Assuming things don't get worse, I would assume the Parks would be open to non-California residents by then (I hope, I hope). The only caveat about that is that some of the areas at the Studios are pretty tight quarters, and it might be that parts of that day might not be available by October. I would also think that's a possibility with some of the backstage areas, in the Parks, also. Unless they've upgraded the air supply for Walt's Apartment, for example, it was kind of stuffy up there. But maybe ABD and Disneyland will consider that OK, as you only go up there in small groups anyways. So it's just too hard to know. It's certainly not as expensive as a River Cruise, and I would assume would be much cheaper to get to, but there's still the chance that even if the trip happens, it, too, may be "less special than it would be during 'normal' times". It's really impossible to know at this point, and I think it depends on how much risk and possible disappointment you want to deal with at this point.

Disneyland is not the only factor, because the trip also includes the Disney Studios. Studios employees for the most part are still working from home out here, and Disney has said publicly that employees will not start returning to studios offices in a phased approach until July. Additionally, most of the Studios buildings were built in the 1930s, so ceilings are low, rooms can be small (ie the Archives area) and hallways are narrow. Thus, it is hard to say if Disney will be open to having a group of 40 people (guests plus AbD guides plus studio escorts) walking through in October.

I also wouldn’t be sure the park will be fully open by October. While things are getting better, Florida is a year ahead of California and is just now starting to talk about easing some restrictions. Disneyland is much smaller with narrower walkways and tighter queues. Not saying it can’t be, but it is too early now to guess. Disneyland has only been reopened two weeks as of today.

What would you do? Does anyone think it is possible that these Disneyland trips will happen in the Fall?

I would take the credit as a placeholder and do a big trip next year when things are more normal and you can get the special things that would regularly be included.
