What would you do differently next trip?

Relax! I joined DVC this year so now I know I'll be going back frequently. I can slow down and really savor the experience. All I ever used to do was sleep at the resorts, I want to enjoy all the other things Disney does to make the vacation wonderful.

This time we too are going to just hang out at the hotel on the first day. While usually my kids and DH are all for just hanging around the pool, I am the obsessed one who thinks we are going to miss something. This time I decided that since we will be there a week, then it would be okay to just hang out by the pool when we get there. We are meeting the in-laws there and we haven't seen them for about 3 years so it will be nice to hang out, relax and catch up with them.

*We are also going to take our time in the parks and enjoy all the magic.

*Sounds silly, but I have never "shopped" at the Studios (except for the Star Wars shop) so I would really like to check out the stores this time.

*Since we have free dining this time, there will be new restaurants to try.

DH and I have been at least 10 times in the last 5 years...but there are STILL things to do...

1. Beauty and the Beast with DD's. I cant believe we missed it last time! :sad2:

2. Go to tom sawyers island...never done that.

3. Hit a water park...never been to any of them in WDW!

4. ENJOY MNSSHP...last time i was just MAD at DH for giving up our "spaces" for the parade.

5. Watch wishes from the Railroad station

6. Go to the POLY beach and watch the elect. water pagent

7. Enjoy a Margarita from MEXICO while touring the pavilion, Wine while watching the street performers in Italy, something sinful in France (although Italy kicked their butt in the World Cup  ) and for once eat a :mickeybar !!

I will try to be in a better mood. I mean, as long as Aunt Flo doesn't join me on the trip, I should be fine.

1. Buy that expensive souvenir- we'll never get it back home.

2. Stay at night for the fireworks shows. Last time, we went back to the hotel and were just too tired to go back. Afternoon nap should be earlier!

3. When dh gets grumpy, send him off on his own for a beer!

Instead of going to WDW for 1 week - we will go for 2 weeks

Instead of staying at the WL, we will stay at the Dolphin (better pool) with our AAA rate (Dolphin AP/AAA rates are the same - 2007 rates are out now - we have $199 for Easter 2007) http://www.swandolphin.com

Instead of doing 2 sit down (ADR) meals a day - we will do 1 sit down meal per day

Instead of doing Cindy's breakfast - we will do 'Ohana breakfast with Lilo & Stitch

Instead of using Quick Silver - we will use FL Tours for our MCO transportation (Quick Silver was not friendly or talkative)
http://www.fltours.com

Instead of getting up at 2 am for a 7 am SWA flight to WDW, we will get up at 6 am for our 11 am SWA flight (and be less sleepy on day 1)

Instead of swimming only once in the WL pool, we will try to swim everyday in one of the Dolphin pools (there are 4 of them).

Instead of spending money on the HDD, we will do the Mickey Magical Milestone tour (ages 10 years and older allowed)

We will not skip Sunday Mass, we will do Easter Sunday Mass at the Contemporary.

We can not wait to go back to WDW for Easter 2007 :woohoo:

Go for 2 weeks.

Buuuuuut, since I don't have that much vacation (already to many other trips planned), DVC points or money, I'll just settle for being there and knowing I'll be back again. :thumbsup2

I will teach my family to wake up earlier and get moving. We were there the week before Christmas so the crowds were pretty heavy and as it got later in the day the lines became long.My family figured if they rolled out at 9 am that would give us plenty of time to have a nice breakfast at the food court and then off to the parks, what a misconception!

There are a few things...

1) NOT go with anyone but my DBF
2) Catch a flight that will get us into Orlando around 2pm so that we can get to the hotel in time for check in at 3pm, and then spend the rest of the day in DTD
3) take an 8 day trip and plan 2 days at each park, that way if we want to do something again or miss something we have time to get back to it....OR we will have some extra time to spend in DTD or at the hotel pool.
4) Get more Dole Whip
5) Ride Cinderella's Carousel
6) Stop taking pictures of the SAME THINGS!! :rolleyes1
7) Eat at a character dining meal
8) Do Mickey's Philharmagic
9) Swim with the sharks
10) Use Fastpass more often...especially for Expedition Everest
11) Buy all of our ride photos

I want to go with someone who actually enjoys it and is willing to try the different foods at Epcot WS (instead of whining about wanting hot dogs) and doesn't wish that a hole would open in the earth when we go on PotC for the 500th time and I sing along and yell at the pirates and who doesn't want to just nap and watch the Weather Channel back at the hotel.

I could've told you not to bring my ex-husband!

:)

This time we are eating at some of the TS restaurants at World Showcase. We say this everytime, but I havent done TS at Epcot since I went with my dad as a kid to the France one.

i have been to disney 10 times and this time i have things i need to do-

your #1 is great- i should really do that (maybe next trip)- however, i already made plans for my first day! but i am keeping your suggestion in the back of my mind.

:) i also have a few days on my schedule that i have NO PLANS except dinners later that evening and i want to just relax and take those days as they come! BUT even though we do have plans for most days to go to the parks- it will not be until later in the day--- after we relax by the pool except for........

:) there will be only ONE day that we set our alarm, and thats to open MK- i have never opened a park (we are not early risers) and i just want to see what its all about-- but i am NOT running to any rides! :rotfl2: DH and i dont run.....we strooooooolllllll..........

:) i subscribed to TGM this time- and the best information i got- was which days to do which parks- and this is what we are sticking to! usually we hop but we are sticking to our "park of the day"...until later that night- we ALWAYS end up at the WS!

:) we usually do wishes- but not in front of the castle- we usually go back by small world its so quiet back there- but you dont get the full effect of the castle....maybe this time we will stay on main street-

:) we never stay for parades- we have no patience, watch a little then wander off- but this time i am staying for parades- i am getting times and will plan for it.

and OMG! you HAVE to see beauty and the beast-- that is a MUST for DH and i when we do MGM-- we have seen it so many times- but we still enjoy it after all this time! :thumbsup2

GREAT THOUGHTS the one thing I dont know is what is TGM? You said you subscribed to it???? PLEASE tell me

I am going to have the kids make their list of things they missed before we actually get back home.

TGM is Tour Guide Mike. You can check out his site, but for all the really good stuff you have to pay. There is a banner at the top of this page that you can click on for $3 off.

Great, useful information, including his recommendations on which days to go to which parks to avoid crowds. Most folks say that when they follow his advice they never wait more than 10 minutes in any lines . . .

I have subscribed and will be using his advice for our Sept/Oct trip!

  • Take breaks... I swear I'm gonna really do it this time!!!

Send my son on the Pirate Adventure Cruise now that he's old enough.

Send my son to Simba's Clubhouse so I can enjoy some solo time in the parks (it really sounds like I want to get rid of him, huh???)

    Enjoy activities at AKL.

Last time I went to WDW I was 14 and we went for my grandparents 50 wedding anvsy there were over 25 people there and my tour was guided by my mom so this trip I am going to get to enjoy everything like it's the first time! Especially since I am taking DF and it will be his first trip. It's going to be so much fun!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

You missed WISHES?! :faint: Oh my!

I never miss Wishes, but next trip, I am going to spend more time in Epcot and stop to watch all the performers in the countries. Somehow, every trip I only make it to 2 or 3 countries and only catch a couple of the performances.

Next trip I AM going to make it to a park opening...
preferably the one at the Magic Kingdom, I am NOT a morning person and even though I've tried, I've never quite made it to the MK park opening.
(Course I say this every trip and it has yet to happen... :rolleyes1 )

These are my two biggies for my next trip.

Yes, can you believe it?! :guilty: We were going to save Wishes for our last evening at MK and it rained and DH didn't want to go as we had already gotten caught in a downpour at Epcot one afternoon. We definitely won't miss it this time around.
