What would you do arrival night (HS, MVMCP or Disney Springs)?

What would you do the evening of arrival?

We (6 adults) are arriving into MCO around 3:30 pm on Thursday, December 12, 2019. Our focus this trip is a 2 night private event at Universal/Islands of Adventure for Friday and Saturday night.

I'm trying to decide if it would be worth it to go to Hollywood Studios on arrival evening to see and hopefully ride the new Star Wars attractions. I realize we would only have maybe 4 hours there.

The other options are attend MVMCP or just go to Disney Springs for dinner and to see the Christmas Tree trail. I'm really trying to get some Disney into this trip one way or another!

We are renting a house near Universal and will have a rental car.

To me it kind of depends how many days Disney tickets you have. I'd probably be too nervous about a flight problem to do the MVMCP that night. We do usually go to a park our arrival day evening but that's mainly because we have seven or eight day tickets so the price of the extra evening is kind of negligible.

We don't have any Disney tickets for this trip. We are only in Orlando Thurs - Sun and the focus is a private event over at Universal (Fri/Sat nights). That's why I'm hoping to squeeze a little Disney in if at all possible!

Then I vote Disney Springs, maybe get a nice dinner reservation at one of the Disney Resorts.

I don't see the time working well.
If you land ontime at 3:30, you will be lucky to get out of the airport after 4 at the earliest.
If you skip your rental house and drive directly to Disney, park, take the monorail or ferry and go through security, the earliest you would be in the park would be 5:30.
People for the party have been entering since 4.
If your plane is delayed, the timeline only gets worse.

I would Disney Springs, enjoy the area, have a relaxing meal and enjoy the area.
You also won't be exhausted for the next day.

Disney Springs would be my choice. TS restaurants show some availability. Make a reservation at one of them that don't charge a no-show fee and then do the Christmas Tree trail. Worse case if you are don't get there in time for your dinner reservation, you can either do a counter service or pivot and go to restaurant near your rental.

Actually, I would resort hop to see the Christmas decorations. The Grand Floridian is my favorite. You have the gingerbread house and an orchestra in the lobby playing Christmas tunes. You can have dinner there. You can watch the MK fireworks from their pier.

To me this would be much more relaxing.

I‘d do Disney Springs. It would be tempting to go to Hollywood Studios and get in line for ROTR at the end of the night, but I‘d worry about the attraction being down and feeling like I wasted my time and money going there.

I'll be the contrarian and say go to the Christmas party. Disney Springs isn't that Disney and there's nothing like setting foot in the Magic Kingdom. Just have low expectations for what you'll get to do.
