Aha good I've got your attention. Now I'd love to get your ideas on whats good to do on our first night in Florida! But its not as simple as it seems, cos we are not having disney passes! We are getting 5 day flex tickets but as we arrive on Friday 29th November (day after Thanksgiving!) at 15.40, have to pick up a car and find vistana resort it's probably going to be 6 o/c by the time we get out anywhere. This means theres a maximum of 2 hours at the park that opens the latest, Seaworld. Should we head there? I understand they have fireworks! Or should we wait until the next day, Saturday (Thanksgiving weekend-well it was cheap!) before going to any parks? Can anyone recommend one of the smaller attractions on I-Drive as a good first nights entertainment? Or has anyone got any other bright ideas? Hope I haven't lost your interest but I'm sure that you vets will rise to the challenge of finding us something to do!!!! Looking forward to hearing all your good suggestions!!!!!!

PS: I should mention that there is me, hubby and 9 year old daughter & we were in Disney last year for 2 weeks, and are staying at AsSp 6-9th Dec & doing MVMCP & MGM (for Tot &RnRC) during our stay!!!!

Hi,
You may have a lot more energy than us but all we do the first nite is unpack, get a shower and then wander down I-Drive to get something to eat.We then have a gentle stroll back to the hotel and go to bed about 9pm (don't forget our body clock thinks it's 2am)By the way we are probably on the same flight as you we arrive on the 29th too!

Same here,i wanted to do everything on the first night we arrived, and to be honest,we was all that tired!!
We unpacked got cleaned up,then strolled down for something to eat and ran back (it rained) to the hotel, where we had a shower and got in to bed it was only 8pm!!!!!

I wouldnt plan too much see how you feel once you get there, its amazing how tired you are when you arrived!

Beth ;)

I agree with the posts above me, we get to the hotel, unpack, shower and then go and get something to eat. Depending on how tired we sometimes pop (if you can ever just POP) into Walmarts to get some essentials like beer etc. Then its an early night to be up bright and refreshed the next morning.

Last October we went straight to MK after checking in at POR. We had arranged to meet some American friends there so we were a bit rushed :)

We had a great night and didn't leave MK til about 10:30pm (about 3:30am UK time!).

Next August we arrive on a Sunday on the earlier Virgin flight, so may still venture to MK, but after some food and a shower and change :)

Another vote from me for taking it easy the evening you arrive. We normally check in, unpack and get some provisions in from Publix. Then its an early night and up'n at 'em the next morning bright and early. We certainly don't have energy for anything else; after travelling for about 15 hours I don't think I could enjoy a park visit under any circumstances.

Regards

Rob

I was thinking of poping into Seaworld for the fireworks on our first night.
( Our advantage is we're staying at The Sheraton, which is a 5 min walk from Seaworld, and we've got a 7 day pass with our Dis. cove tickets. )
I definately want to go to Wallmart to stock up. This alone could take hours.
I'm bad enough when I pop into Tesco's for milk and bread :p
I always end up spending about an hour and too much money :p
But like the others have said we'll just have to see how we feel when we get there. Its going to be a long day ( especially the flight with 14 month old ds  )
I'll be there same time as you too :D

What hotel are you staying at on I-Drive?

When I have stayed on I-Drive I've done the whole unpack, shower, go out to eat and stay up as long as I possibly can.

Ditto. :D

Debbie,

What I normally do is the following;

1. Head to Hotel to unpack and have a quick shower.

2. Go to Downtown Disney to have a cafe latte in the Virgin Megastore on the balcony overlooking the West Side and chill.

3. Wander around Downtown Disney and spend a bit of money on some cd's etc.

4. Finally head to Walmart to get provisions before back to Hotel.

Don't worry, it is more fun than it sounds here.

Alex - as you know we stayed at the Sheraton World and from our room had fantastic views of the SeaWorld fireworks each night if we were back in our room for 10pm (and not sitting in Sea world watching them!). It might be worthwhile asking for a top floor (2nd floor) room which overlooks the back so you can see the fireworks, unless you have a garden view room).

However, I'm with the others who, like us, just hit Walmarts or Publix for those essential supplies (beer, wine and nibbles, plus maybe one of their tiny cakes or two;) ), then grab something to eat and hit the beds at between 9-10pm. We find we're always up early the following morning, so the first day is always the best to arrange to be at the parks earliest:D

Hi,

I tend to take it easy on the first night - downtown disney or something......but I also usually manage a round of mini golf.
You could play Pirates Cove on I Drive before or after your meal.

Enjoy yourself:Pinkbounc :bounce:

We usually stay in a villa, and on our first night we always just unpack, shower - maybe a swim - and head for something eat, and of course Wal*Mart for provisions - I LOVE that place and probably end up spending a good couple of hours wandering around - checking out the live lobsters......:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Next year though since we are travelling United Airlines and have a connection to get we are arriving later - at 7.30, so I think we'll be straight to bed that night......and hit Wal*Mart first thing in the morning!!!!!!

And I thought you lot were all theme park crazy!!!!!! Obviously all our plans will be subject to change and I bow to your superior knowledge and suggestion to take it slowly the first night. However when we were there last year we were on a later flight, reliant on coach transfer and on site at disney. We somehow managed to go to MK until closing time which was later than this time because it was in May. Bearing in mind my daughter was younger I expect her to have at least as much stamina this time!!!!!! So my reason for trying to stay up is to get on track with Florida time or we will be up too early and tired too early at nightime. As I am desperately dieting I hadn't reckoned on eating 1st night!!!!! Seriously though, we only have 10 nights this time and I have a lot to get in. So, Mick I'll see you at Gatwick, Sam we're at Vistana resort and Greg can't spend all my money on the 1st night!!!!!! Sam-b, excellent idea i'll probably go to Pirates Cove, hubby is golf crazy and we played it loads on our honeymoon in 1989. My daughter will enjoy it too and then we'll go to Walmart, sounds like a fun shopping experience for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx all

Debbie

1st night is defnitely just shower and change of clothing, stroll down I-Drive, light meal, pick up some beer, wine and snacks and back to the room, maybe some TV. Next day is also always a rest day round the pool and some shopping late afternoon. Don't understand the need to race to the Theme Parks, they're there for the entire length of your holiday!

well, I couldn't possibly go to a theme park on the first night, I am usually just about able to sleepwalk through a meal and then straight to bed,
but I have been to Seaworld in the evening before, in June we went at 6ish a couple of times and stayed for a few hours. It's a really nice time to go, the Shamu evening show is excellent, and the fireworks are amazing - they project onto water, similiar to Fantasmic.

Hi Annie :D
Well I still haven't decided whether I'm going to ask for a tower room, or a garden room.
Maybe I should just ask for a room where I can see the Seaworld fireworks. I'm on a winner whichever I get then ;)

Debsi - I'm desperatley trying to diet too :( Hard work.
I want to lose another stone and a half before we go in 7 1/2 weeks

Being our first time at WDW we were so excited we went straight to Mk and did an e-night until around 1pm this I would not recommend:rolleyes: This time we will just chill out:o
