What would you choose?

I have the days for my California trip 11-22-12 to 12-1-12. So far I know for sure what I want to do the first 3 days.

11-22-12 Thursday arrival from Florida, staying 1 day good neighbor hotel, Thanksgiving dinner at ball room at 7:00 pm Eastern time. if I can take a nap and then come back for 2nd show of fantasmic.

11-23 to 11-25 Friday to Sunday stay in Hollywood and visit all the tourist attractions that the time allow.

Now is when I need help! Would you do Disneyland .....

A. 11-25 to 11-29 Sunday to Thursday (then Hoover Dam and west canyon 2 days)

B. 11-27 to 12-1 Tuesday to Saturday (first hoover dam 11-25 to 11-27 and then return to disneyland)


we are going to stay On site the 4 days at Disneyland.

What would you choose and why?

I would choose neither. Instead I would put off Hollywood and do DLR Nov 23-27 because there will be more entertainment happening and longer park hours.

If I had to choose between your dates A and B, I do not see a big difference. I would slightly lean towards B because the Friday will likely be less crowded than the Sunday.

Thank you, that's what I thought about Sunday also. At the beginning I though about doing Disneyland 11-22 to 11-27 but Im a little scared about the crowds on that holiday weekend with my 5 yo.

Thank you, unfortunately Saturday we depart in the morning. We are going to miss the Candlelight Processional.

Thanksgiving week is one of the most crowded times to be at DL and the week after is one of the best...imo, I would do DL from 11/27-12/1

No way Hydroguy!! Thanksgiving and the days after up until the Sunday after is really crowded...she is going to be there for awhile and no matter which dates she chooses, she will be there on a weekend so she will get the night time entertainment regardless...I would do Hollywood during those days np..

In 2011, I was at Disneyland late Friday night the day after Thanksgiving through the Tuesday afternoon after Thanksgiving (so basically the exact days Hydroguy was suggesting, except I missed much of Friday and some of Tuesday).

Now, granted, this was pre-Cars Land, but so far it appears Cars Land has mainly redistributed crowds, not increased them across the board.

Anyway, Friday night seemed fine. Saturday was also fine (not empty, but not bad by any means) and Sunday was pretty darned good crowd-wise, especially in the evening. Late Sunday night I was able to get a FP for Space Mountain around 9:50 PM, with a use time of 10:35. Almost got a second one when I used my FP, but the machine shut off right as I was trying to get one.

Monday and Tuesday were even lower crowds, of course. Those dates are a good combination because you get three full days of high-season entertainment without ultra-crowded conditions, and then 2 days of low crowds.

That said, you know your child better than we do. If you and your child like to do the parks from open til close with a nap in-between, and if you love the late-night shows, then the late hours of Friday-Sunday will be really helpful. But if you think you'd be happier doing more limited hours with the park probably opening later and closing around 8 (and having a possibility of missing nighttime shows), then the off-season hours may be a better choice. The crowds will be lower and lines will almost certainly be shorter.

I would NOT suggest you visit Disneyland the days immediately BEFORE Thanksgiving, as those days are always extremely crowded. And the week following Thanksgiving will be less crowded than the days right after Thanksgiving. But the days after Thanksgiving were not bad in 2011.
