I have a friend here in the UK who is arriving at AKL on 8/23 for 14 nights. She has free dining plan and does not normally travel at this time of year. I spoke to her today on the phone and she hasn't made one ADR, she says she never books in advance, but has plans to eat at CP and CM for character meals amongst others. She doesn't know about the dis. Will she be ok to do this or should she try to make some reservations. I don't want to worry her, but surely this is a mistake?

TIA

be a sweetie and warn her. direct her to the DIS,, if necessary. If she doesn't listen, not your bad. I hate to her of anyone disappointed at WDW!

I would warn her at the least (i.e. NO CHANCE of eating at Chef Mickey, etc. doing it that way). That way she's making an informed decision.

Tell her they do and will turn people away without ADR's. IF she wants any sit down meals ADR's are really necessary especially during free dining.

Wow...I would warn her further. We were there during a less busy time and while we were waiting for our ADR at LeCellier, the hostess had a couple come in who thought they'd sit down without an ADR (actually a handful of people thought this...). Anyway, the hostess called around and that particular night there were only 2 world showcase restaurants that weren't completely booked solid for the night.

She will have extreme difficulty getting CP and CM at this late date. She will have virtually no hope of getting any TS at MK or Epcot without ADRs.

She needs to get on the phone and get what she can. Even being very flexible about restaurants and times, her choices are going to be limited.

If your UK friend does not mind dining at 9:40pm or later, she might have a few options open for her ADR's.
