I would love to hear others interesting ideas about going Solo!!

Hmmm....sounds tempting!! And then I think the guilt would kill me not the take my 2 DNep's. :scratchin

Then again...maybe not! :cool1:

Since I require very little sleep....(I Usually sleep about 5 hours 6 tops) I can a get ton of stuff done and not have to wait for anyone to be ready.

I think I would like play a couple of rounds of golf.

Then I would like to take some of the backstage tours.....or maybe even a Segway ride at Epcot.

Maybe I could sit through the Hall of Presidents without anyone telling me they are bored. Or maybe just sit and people watch in the World Showcase at Epcot and really get to enjoy ALL the countries not just the ones with the rides.

I think I would really enjoy visiting and exploring all the hotels.

Or even maybe I could enjoy being a DVC member and actually use the amenities in my resort. The thought of being pampered at the SSR spa is very tempting.

Hmmmm....Again sounds good but.......

Then I think who would enjoy Splash Mountain with me. :( Who would challenge me at Buzz Lightyear or who would I share all my interesting Disney tidbits with. ANd could I watch Wishes with or parades.

I have try the Solo trip once and see how it is. With my very high stress job and chaotic life...I may actually have a real vacation and enjoy it.

Sorry to ramble .....I was just thinking out loud :wizard:

I've wondered about this too. I would sit and listen to the music in Canada and UK for as long as I wanted. I would people watch and not feel guilty that I wasn't "doing something". I would ride POTC over and over and over, and then I would get a Dole Whip and ride it again! pirate:

You'll be amazed how quickly the guilt will disappear and the trip becomes all about YOU!!! You can go where and when YOU want, eat all day, sleep all night, ride your favorite ride over and over and over... I think you get the picture!!! One of these days when I get over my compulsive planning I'll walk out to the bus stop and take the first bus that comes along to that park - totally unplanned!!! Haven't quite gotten to that stage yet.

Also you'll be able to seek out other DISers if you so desire - just post here with your dates and maybe you'll find a fellow soloist who'll join you for lunch or a couple of rides on ToT. Done this many times and had alot of fun making new friends.

So definitely TAKE THE PLUNGE!!! We're here with more words of encouragement if you need them!!! :teeth:

Years ago, my husband cancelled a trip at the last minute due to storm damage so I went alone. I loved it. Now, whenever we plan trips, I go a few days before my husband and do the things he doesn't like. When he arrives, we do whatever he feels like doing which keeps him smiling. I like everything so I am happy either way. Now I don't have to regret missing my favorites that he does not enjoy.

My favorites include:
1. Reading at a water park between floats down the lazy river.
2. Late nights at the Comedy Warehouse
3. Going on kiddie rides
4. Attending multiple concerts at Epcot
5. Walking about 12 miles per day for the exercise
6. Seeing Spectromagic and Wishes over and over
7. Finding new favorite off site restaurants
8. Ride the transportation to the different resorts and explore

It is sooooo nice to spend a few days in paradise without hearing a single whine or complaint. My husband hates Splash Mountain, the crush of humanity at the parades and getting a bad gun on Buzz. Enjoying these alone is MUCH better than watching him get uncomfortable just to please me.

I'd encourage you to go. It is so much easier to face day to day challenges when you know the reward is a fantastic, relaxing time in paradise.

I love going to WDW solo; you can eat when and where you want, do what you want, ride the rides as many times as you want, and just have fun without worrying about anyone else! I know that sounds selfish, but I love it and I have a totally awesome good time when I do WDW solo....!

My family had to cancel this year's trip so I went solo last month. 11 nights at POR! I had a great time.

I didn't do many rides. I wandered a lot, just taking everything in. I spent time at the hotel quiet pool, and booked a half day of treatments at the GF spa. Total indulgence!

I saw a couple of movies, went to Cirque de Soleil for the 3rd time and did the Keys to the Kingdom tour at MK.

I tried several restaurants which I hadn't had the opportunity to visit until this trip. I stayed for Wishes and staked out a prime spot very early, and stayed there drinking a fruit smoothie while listening to a Harry Potter audio book on my MP3 player :rotfl:.

Yes it's fun to share experiences, but this one was a different sort of experience and I really enjoyed it. I'm planning another solo adventure for October 06, taking in the food and wine festival. This time I am going to do some serious saving as I want to stay at the Yacht Club!

Oh and I flew right across the Atlantic, including a wait in London Gatwick by myself too, not a problem.

One thing I loved was to just go out to the bus stop at your resort and take the first bus that comes. Such freedom! Someone suggested making a whole day (or several hours) of it-take that bus, get off at whichever park, spend some time there maybe, then take whichever bus comes first to whichever resort, spend some time there, etc. At some point you'll end up at a park and you can just take the bus back to your resort. That sounds like fun, so I'm planning on doing it in November when I'm solo.

I adore Epcot as a solo - it's so great to be able to linger and soak up the atmosphere of one "nation" or breeze through another as you wish. I also enjoy bringing a book and hanging out in the gardens in the UK. My absolute favorite solo spot in the entire World, though, is the beach between the Poly and GF, with or without that book. It's always my first stop, and has become my way of realizing that I'm really there. Ahhh.

Hey Everyone thanks for all the tips and info. I am thinking about going solo more and more...and I think January might be agreat time to go.

Today I had a very stressfull day. And being somewhere that I truly enjoy all by myself (hmmm..sounds like a song) sounds good to me .

I'm doing my 1st solo Sept. 30-Oct. 3rd and while I'm getting kind of nervous about it (no one will know until I get down there) I'm really looking forward to it. I'm one of those people who has never been anywhere by myself. I've already booked my Segway tour and am meeting some fellow Diser's for a Monorail Drink-a-Thon (much tamer than it sounds) on Sept. 30th. I'll try and post a trip report. I say Go For It!!

lynn71092 - I'm also going solo the first part of Oct - and taking the Segway tour - but on the 5th. I'll just miss you! Enjoy the tour - I'm really looking forward to it!

I know once my family finds out I'm down there solo they'll think I'm crazy so it's nice to know that there are so may other solo's out there and they're completely normal.
Well, as normal as Disneyaholics can be. :rotfl2:

I always write a note to myself to feel guilty about going solo after I return.

Funny, I don't ever seem to be able to find those notes ;)

I just sent an e-mail to my sister about some great air fare from Chicago to Orlando ($96.90) and she said she doesn't understand why I bother to look at those when I have no one to fly with me. Ha, ha, little does she know!!!!
They'll get the shock of their lives on Sept. 30th.. :scared1:

OMG! Lynn - you haven't told anyone????

WOW! :earseek:

Good for you!

I know!!
I plan on sending them an e-mail and the subject line will be "Good Morning from Midway Airport". :rotfl:

I've heard of surprising people with a trip, but you're the first to surprise the ones staying home!

Good for you!! My first solo trip, friends and family kept trying to make me think it was a bad idea. I'm SOOOOO glad I didn't listen to them. I had such a great time and it's been an awful two years waiting to fit in another one. Course, the trips with family helped, but it is just so different and wonderful going alone!

I just got back from a solo trip last night, and I can't seem to feel guilty either! Several people there asked me where the rest of my party was and were surprised I was alone, but then when they found out, lots of people thought that sounded like a great idea-and it is!
