What would happen if the CR pool was closed, could those guests swim at BLT?

I know that as of right now the only guests who are allowed to swim at Bay Lake Tower are those who are currently staying there, so I am not going to debate that. However I have always been curious to find out what would happen if the main pool at the Contemporary ever had to close for a renovation or for something un expected, would their guests be allowed to swim at the Bay Lake Tower pool? The reason I am asking is because on paper wouldn't it make more sense saying for them to go over there because it's within walking distance, instead of telling them to take the Resort Monorail to the Polynesian or the boat to the Wilderness Lodge to swim over there. I mean before Bay Lake Tower opened don't you think this is a situation they must have brought up, because if they didn't I would find that very surprising.

don't think even then - they would.

blt has those darn keys. now love BLT - but going to swim is a pain - if you have anything in your hands - because of those doors. when you put your key in the lock you expect the door next to the lock to open - it does not.

the door over on the under side (without even a lock on it in the first place) is the only one that opens.

secondly it is only available to open for a few seconds - so you can be there with a proper key and still not get in to BLT for several minutes because the door is so fast.

BWV does not do this....

the only way to allow CR is to allow them keys to BLT. that is not going to happen.

even the pool itself is locked. so even if they allowed the beach gate to be opened - CR would still need a key to get in the pool.

security went much to far at BLT - my opinion.

still love it - but boy what are they expecting.....:confused3

It is not that big of a pool to take care of the guest at both locations. I think that would be a major problem....smjj

I'm pretty sure that when the Animal Kingdom Lodge pool went down for renovation, everyone could swim in the Kidani Village Pool and when the Boardwalk Main Pool went down for renovation, everyone could swim at Storm Along Bay. Therefore, if Contemporary pool was closed for renovation, guests would be allowed to swim at BLT pool.

Well if it was the other way around and the Bay Lake Tower pool was closed for a renovation, I am sure those guests would be told to swim at the Contemporary since they are already allowed to if they want to take advantage of that. So would the Contemporary pool area be big enough to handle all the guests coming from Bay Lake Tower?

We can already swim at the CR pool. Besides, it is much larger and can accomodate the load...smjj

those pools do not have the silly locks on them.

the only way this would work - would be a security guard.

since BLT is only paid for by DVC - what would be the advantage to DVC to allow this to happen.

the pool is pretty tiny.

and yes the main pool at CR is about 3 times the size of BLT. and that does not count the other pool (which is about the same size as BLT)

the last time BWV main pool was down - was there and did not think SALB was to be used by BWV - it had the gate on it by then.

now the opposite is true - BC/YC/BCV when their main pool is down they can use BWV. since that pool was not made for that many people - it gets to be very, very crowded.

but thank you - just remember that BWV members pay for the upkept of the pool at BWV and since we can't use the SALB - then it is not fair for BC/YC/BCV to be able to use ours. Unless Disney is paying for it. Which they probably are not.

While it maybe be bigger I don't think they would have enough pool chairs for everyone, so that's something else to remember.

I am certain if the pool was going to be down for rehab we would know about it way in advance and unless it was going to be during a colder time frame I probably would just not book at BLT... we have been to BW when the main pool has been down for rehab and it was too cold to use the pool anyway...

you know never understood the demand that some people have for the pool chairs.

allergic to the sun and I know it.

doesn't everyone realize that skin cancer is real and if untreated it will kill you.

the main source of skin cancer - is the sun.

now definitely go swimming - but staying out there in the sun - asking to be burned - never understood that.

of course don't understand football either. now basketball and baseball love - but football - definitely don't understand.:rolleyes1

When the BWV pool was under renovation this year, guests were shuttled to Stormalong Bay, I think someone above said that wouldn't be allowed - but it was.

When pools at monorail resorts are being refurbed, they generally open up one of the other resort's pool for use. So I'd bet they open up the GF pool...actually, I bet they'd open up the WL pool for CR guests to use. I see what you are saying, that it's easier to use the BLT pool, but no, I don't agree that it "makes more sense" to do so - that pool is not big enough to accommodate the overflow.

There are two pools at CR. I can't imagine that they would close both of them at the same time.

I was going to say the same thing. The one pool is a bit deeper than the themed pool at CR, but CR could use one or the other of their two pools.

Well when their main pool was being renovated anyone staying at the Contemporary was told they could swim at the Polynesian or Wilderness Lodge, however I forget which resort it was. Even though their other smaller pool was still available for their guests to use it would not be big enough when their main one is not available, so that's why they had the option to swim at another resort.

If CR resort guests were allowed to use the Polynesian or GF pools the last time the pools were renovated, I would imagine they would follow the same protocol for future renovations.

If the quiet pool at a resort is closed, typically guests are not allowed to pool hop anywhere. If the feature pool is closed (or, sometimes, if just the slide is closed), then guests are often allowed to swim at a particular, designated pool nearby. But, there is no guarantee that it would be possible, nor is there any guarantee that they would choose BLT's vs. any other pool.

But, if you really want a definitive answer, try asking here:
