Literally, the child is JUST SHY of turning three, and he has NO HAIR! Just the peach fuzz noggin of, say, a six-month-old!

This isn't him, but his HEAD looks like this...

When it "should" look like this...

He's never had or needed a haircut. His parent's aren't concerned in the least, they think it's adorable. His parents also don't believe in doctors, so he has never seen a doctor...

Is this normal?

To answer your question.......I've never seen a 3 year old with hair like a 6 month old & I work with a ton of 3 year olds. They have very, very fine hair, but usually not just fuzz.

Yes, I am concerned for the poor kiddo, too! He's a family member on DHs side, and of course, everyone thinks he is "sooooo cute". I'd be concerned!

I have cousins who got hair really late - and they are girls! It was just genetics. They are much older now and have lots of hair.

I agree with the PP who said they would be much more concerned with the lack of doctor care.

DH's cousin (female) was bald until she was 5. I think the posted baby had more hair than she did.

My son had peach fuzz until after he turned three. I called him my bald baby. Of course, he also had these gorgeous thick, long black eyelashes and everyone thought he was a girl. Then all of a sudden it seemed like the hair all fell out and then it grew in thicker. Now he has hair that rivals Justin Bieber's and he's ten.

My Niece didn't start getting hair until she was 4 and even then it came in sections. She looked like someone gave her a really bad haircut until she reached about 6. After that she had long beautiful hair.

My daughter was almost completely bald (im talking pure blond peach fuzz that I couldn't even put a barrette in) until she turned 3 1/2. Now her hair is thick and beautiful!

Christian had that light,almost white fuzzy hair to, well into his preschool years. He had his first haircut the week he started walking--at age 5-1/2 years old.

ETA: Once he got his hair he got a ton of it. If his hair was long I don't think I could get a rubber band around it.

My oldest daughter was as bald as that when she was 3 years old. She started getting more hair right before she turned 4 years old. By the time she was in elementary she had tons of thick strawberry blond hair--more hair than most people have. Now she's a mom and has thick auburn red hair and has 2 daughters of her own. Her first was a baldy until 3 years old and her second daughter is 2 years old right now with long hair but still a little sparse.

I went to school with an entire family of siblings, five of them, who all had the same "cotton candy" texture to their hair. I've never seen anything like it, and just thought it was a genetic condition.

OT, but I noticed that your 7 yr. old's name is Ashlyn. I have a DD named Ashlyn also - spelled exactly the same. Just not a common name so I thought I'd mention it!

I didn't have hair just light fuzz until I was about 4, I had cradle cap a a baby and the Dr gave my Mum cream which made my hair fall out. In all photos I have hats on!
