On July 31st, myself and 4 others took a promotional examination at work for a higer classification job. I felt I did really well on the test and was anxiously awaiting the results. I am also 2nd in seniority for the promotion. I received 2 letters of recommendation from my office manager and the administrator I work for. I have talked to countless people about the position. My office manager spoke with the principal to give him her recommendation for me to get the position. Ok, now fast forward. Nobody had received their scores yet. Civil Service decides to give a 2nd part to the test which would be an oral interview. Ok, no problem, right? Well, this past Thursday, 4 of us received a letter stating when the interview was (it is this Wednesday, the 25th) they are interviewing in 15 minute time slots. Well, for some strange reason, I did not receive this interview letter. Didn't get it Thurs, Fri or Sat . . .There is a interview at 1:30, 2pm, 2:15 and 2:30, which tells me I should be interviewed at 1:45pm. But my letter is missing. I really don't think it is, I think it is just a way to weed me out since I am the 2nd interview and looks like the first and third interview are 1 year of service and under employees. I really feel bothered that I didn't get a letter . . .I even called my neighbors to see if the mail carrier might of given it to the wrong house, but nothing came of that.

I will have to call Civil Service tomorrow morning to see if I have an interview or not. Do you think there was actually a letter, or do you think they wouldn't think the 4 other applicants and I speak and assumed if I didn't show up for my interview (which I wouldn't of known about) I didn't want the promotion?

What do ya think?

It is not uncommon for any job opening for someone to know who will fill the spot, regardless of whomelse applies. But usually they at least go through the steps.
I would say they probably accidently overlooked you or the letter did get lost. Unless it is just a case where they think you are over qualified.
Good luck! :wave2:
