Have been thinking of all the valuable info that all of us who went last year have, that can help all the newbies...Thought it would be a good idea to list it all here, for them to read...

I'll start.

Great idea to stay near the convention headquarters (Yacht Club and Beach Club).
Great idea, to be picked up by a driver at the airport and driven back. I wouldn't have used the car at all.
Great idea having an AP

Bad idea....over packing.
Bad idea not bringing stuff for my blisters, and asprin (boy are they expensive)
Bad idea not staying longer

Next???????

Please be honest, even the sma;;est thing will help.

Bad idea to bring your significant other if they don't get the whole DIS thing.

Vanessa, next year you will party hearty!!!!

Having spouse and kids along who aren't part of the convention was not the best idea. In my case, the family vacation was planned first. Next year I'll be solo.

Glo, I think you covered a lot of the bigger items. Most importantly, staying at the EPCOT resorts really is a big plus. And, I am going to try really, really hard not to over pack. I didn't really have too many things left over, except the jeans, sweatshirts, hat and gloves that I sure didn't need at all. For the night time activities, I did change from my tank top to a tee shirt. But I stayed in shorts for the whole trip!!!!!! My favorite vacation attire-shorts and tank tops!!!!!!!! Who cares how I looked, I was happy, happy, happy! :D :D :D

I think the biggest thing for me was having the family there as well...it would have been far easier if I hadn't been trying to juggle both amily and the convention.

The second thing I would say is to keep your "no convention related" scheduled activities to a minimum. So many small meets happen that it would have been so easy to fill my days and nights with convention stuff.

Bad idea to have Mini-Golf meet when the parks were open. Mini-Golf is open til 10 or 11 I think.
Better Idea is to have it later, say on the night you all do Drink Around the World. That way I stand a chance of winning. LOL

Bad ideas:

Bringing 8 family members with you.
Early morning breakfasts - especially after Jellyrolls nights
Sigining up for too many meets - I wanted to be everywhere all at once
Not adding extra days - should have stayed longer

Great ideas:

Loved the thrill ride meet - even though my knee gave out
Staying at Boardwalk - centrally located - great view
MVMCP - I loved it!

Good idea:
Coming 5 days early with the family and then sending them home on the morning the convention started. Oh yeah. :)
Staying at Boardwalk with a full kitchen - not all meals were restaurant meals, I saved a lot of physical energy and money.
Having a car - I really needed it for resort hopping.
Having the laptop - it was fun to check in on the boards and go into chat, say hi to people.
Being there. Excellent idea. :) :) :)

Bad Idea:
Overdoing it - I literally crashed on day 2 and missed a lot of activities. Won't do that again.
Going into a bar where people are smoking without my mask. Never again.
Not having appropriate software actually working on the laptop so I could upload pictures day-by-day... didn't realize the photo software was not compatible with the OS upgrade, I didn't bother to check before I left home.
Missing the closing breakfast... I cried and cried...
