What words do you feel are overused when it comes to reporting?

Buzzwords in headlines like roasts, flames, erupts, blasts, trolls, triggered, woke, libs...or other inflammatory nonsense.

"Winter wonderland" for snow

"Breaking news" something that happens at 2 am certainly can be breaking news at 5 am, but by 11 am, it isn't anymore.

"Biggest storm in 100 years".......for it seems like every storm the last 15 years on the east coast.

Superlatives such as “classic”, “epic”, etc, that are thrown into a headline to make it seem that the story is bigger/more important than it is.

Once in a generation or once in a lifetime of 100 year anything. My 30 year old DD said she has experienced 10 of those since she was an adukt.

The most useless annual news story near where we used to live, happened in the evening news (6pm), when they had a live reporter on an overpass on the Friday night before deer hunting started. Ohh. Look at all this traffic blah, blah blah.

No, seriously, the traffic is normal rush hour traffic. I joked that they probably sent a reporter there on Tuesday to film that segment. (Deer hunters often take off the Friday to get to their hunting spots).

I would add "famous" to that list. Only because it tends to be used in a context of something that isn't "famous, classic or epic".
We lost a lot of restaurants during the pandemic here. I had one writer call one of them "famous". It had only been open 18 months, but sure how it could be famous. Now the one that closed two weeks ago after 87 years of operation and the same family running it, THAT was a famous restaurant.
