I like wine but only know of a few kinds. I like Reislings but I am not sure if that should be served with turkey. I tend to stay away from really dry wines since I don't care for them. Any suggestions for me?

My favorite turkey wine is Chateau Ste. Michelle's Reisling.

We will, however, be drinking homemade red wine. One of DH's friends dropped off 2 gallons of it for us.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a riesling with turkey.

Living in Virginia, I'm enjoying the Governor's White from Williamsburg Winery. It's cheap wine--but suits my palate. It seems by it's description that I'm not paring it correctly--but that is okay.

A fresh, fruity semi-dry blend, perfect as an aperitif or with light fare.

A wine for all seasons, this fruity wine is an excellent complement to seafood as well as ham, and light luncheon fare. Chilled, the wine will also be good company to cajun and other spicy cuisine.

In keeping with The Williamsburg Winery’s tradition of historical identification of its products, the inspiration for Governor’s White was Governor Berkeley (Governor of Virginia in the 17th cent.)

Hubby is having beer.

Chardonnay or Reisling are both wonderful with turkey-Chardonnay is dryer-Pinot Nior is also outstanding.
Lisa loves pooh-pairing only goes so far-if you like it-thats what matters-it sounds wonderful.

I've always served a beaujolais. Light, fruity and a slight chill. The nouveau is always fun to try!! I bought three bottles the other day. It's always interesting.

My favorite is always a Chardonnay. But, last night I had a Smoking Loon Pinot Noir and it was GOOD!!! I would just have a couple different kinds - a white and a red, for people to choose.

I have 7 bottles to take to our family dinner tomorrow! (we're gonna need it!) Most of them are from our local Vineyards here on the Eastern Shore.

Bordeleau Vidal Blanc
Bordeleau Wicomico Red
Costa Ventosa Vidal Blanc
Costa Ventosa Rosse de Merlot (very good!!)
Layton's Chance Joe's Cool Red
Fat B*****d Merlot (DH's) (WOW didn't realize that would edit out! But its a good wine)
Bully Vineyards Sweet Walter Red

Of course if you look up pairings for any of these, we are way off base, but they are good tasting wines and we'll enjoy drinking them! ;)

I drink what I like, and don't really think about what the food is.

Good Lord, don't say Rose'....you'll have the wine snobs all over you!:lmao:

So what do wine snobs call a wine that is created from a combination of white and red grapes?

Oh... wait... blush, right? Or aren't they the same thing?

That's one of my favorites, got it at Target for $8 a bottle, one bottle left, it's on my wine rack. :)

I always like the Beringer's White Zin. I do like Reislings as well, but Beringer is my standby.

I  Beringer White Zin, it's the first wine I really liked. :) I also really enjoy the $2 buck Chuck White Zin, very tasty. :)

I guess I'm not a snob because I love rose, or blushes, either way they are very good. My 3 favorite wines are blends. :) I get them straight from the winery (except the White Zin) that makes them. :)

OP we are taking our own wine, I'm taking 2 bottles of my $2 Buck Chuck White Zin, I wish I had another bottle of my Gamay Rouge (red/white blend from V Sattui winery) but my last one is almost empty so I won't be taking that. LOL I say whatever you like is what you should have. :)

I like to have a variety. Starting with a Chandon Étoile sparkler and a Fre alcohol-free sparkler. For the table a Navarro Vineyards pinot noir (from Mendocino in California), a Washington state riesling, and Navarro gewürztraminer juice (really fantastic) for me, as I can't drink for medical reasons. Finish with an "ice wine" from Oregon that's a mix of muscat and riesling. All-American is my preference.

By the way, white zinfandel is a blush wine. Rosés are typically not sweet at all.

Hope everyone has just the right amount of wine they enjoy this Thanksgiving.
