What will YOU do if your ADR conflicts with a FP?

What will you do if your FP™ conflicts with your ADR?

  • Take the FP & hope to use it before eating

  • Take the FP & ask for accommodation after eating

  • Take the FP & give it away if it can't be used

  • Take the FP & keep it out of spite

  • Decline the FP & come back later

  • Decline the FP & ride stand by immediately

  • Decline the FP & go ride something else

  • Decline the FP & throw a tantrum

  • Get a "Baby Swap" pass & use it immediately

  • Get a "Baby Swap" pass & use it later

  • Schedule all my ADRs for off times to avoid conflicts

  • Give up, go to Universal & stay on site for FotL access

I voted that we would ride standby now but really, that would depend on how long the wait time is. Leaving & coming back later often means we have to find something to do in that general area of the park so it doesn't involve having to criss cross the park in order to come back later. If the wait time is an hour or something then we'd probably not ride it (unless it's TSM and we all know that's about as short of a wait as that's gonna get). But for 45 minutes or less if we know that's about as good as it's going to get then we'd probably go ahead & ride it. (DH may make a run to go get us FP's for something else while we wait.) We generally go at busy times like spring break or in the summer when there is no such thing as a short standby line.

I voted for not take a FP and come back later. The only way I would take a FP is if I thought I truly had enough time, and the restaurant I had an ADR for was nearby, like a 4:00 - 5:00 window for Splash, and I had a 5:00 ADR for Liberty Tree Tavern, or vice versa, a 12:30 - 1:30 FP and a 11:30 ADR. But anything closer then something like that, I wouldn't take the FP.

Why take a FP that conflicts with your already scheduled ADR? :confused3

:thumbsup2

Although, if everyone started using just the slightest bit of common sense (which is all that is required in this situation).....what would we have to left to discuss?

Big difference: You can get a FP for all the major rides at Disney but at Universal's most popular Harry Potter attractions and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, the FOTLK thing cannot be used.
But you do get early entrance to the parks, and I know those areas are included.

The answer to the poll depends on how Disney will be handling FPs that conflict with dining and how the OP is defining 'conflicts'.

Let's arbitrarily define a conflict as an ADR that begins within half-an-hour of the beginning of the FP window, although any interpretation that makes you uncomfortable as to being able to make both the ADR and the FP will do.

Of course you all know what my vote was...
But reading these replies I suddenly had a brilliant idea! We'll take the FP. Then, in the middle of dinner,I'll excuse myself and go use my FP, return and enjoy the rest of my dinner while my DH takes DD to use their FPs. Then they'll come back and we'll all have dessert!
Of course, I may wind up in the restaurant a bit longer than usual....

That's far better than my plan to trade FPs. I'll have to do that too. :)

Is this before or after you leave in the middle of your pre-park opening buffet breakfast meal at DHS to sign up for JTA? And then go back to finish eating and pay? ;)

(Don't shoot the messenger...I've seen this suggested on here...and I don't care about it! Just pointing out that the most sarcastic outlandish machinations that people suggest...OTHER PEOPLE MAY ACTUALLY DO! :rotfl:)

Exactly! :thumbsup2

My guess is people will do it, just so they can have a reason to complain and try to make it so the rules don't apply to them. I wouldn't get a FP if the return time was within 2 hours of my ADR, and that's only if my ADR is in the same park as the ride/attraction.

Personally, I'm sick of these FP enforcement threads. I think they are all a little ridiculous. Yes, we will have to change the way we tour WDW, but so will everyone else. We've been aware of the changes for quite some time now, and I think it's time to move on.

You tell 'em! I'm sick of entering and reading threads that I don't want to read too.

To return to the original topic of the poll, I would decline the FP and try back later. HOWEVER, as I mentioned on another thread, I would check my phone app to see what attraction had a FP return time that didn't conflict with the ADR. I would pull THAT FP instead and then get the first one as soon as I'm eligible to get another. That way, I'm still getting another FP as soon as I'm eligible and not decreasing the number of FPs I can use during the day.

The strategy of pulling it and then trading is not a bad idea. But that still requires the inconvenience of going back to the attraction and trying to find someone to trade with. It was hard enough GIVING AWAY our FPs in the past without people acting suspicious. Think about the reactions you're likely to get if you're asking for their FPs in exchange for yours. I bet a lot of folks will assume you're a scalper or counterfeiter! :rotfl2:

For me, using the smartphone app to monitor times seems like the best solution.

It's like a 14 year old being pushed in a stroller or a tired, screaming toddler out at 1AM being forced to take a picture with a character or the people using 5 year old mugs at the resorts...you can't help but stare and be happy that you're normal and don't mind following the rules.
