If that puppy starts chewing on that $120.00 wand you'll find out.:rotfl::rotfl: How about paying another $120.00 for a second one?

would that be a gold-plated $120 wand:eek:

OP kudos to u for having DD be responsible & save money for souveniers...quite the learning experience when they get home a few months later & re-evaluate their expenditure when it's coming out of their own pocket.

Possibly...rumor is it will work your TV like a remote when you get it home, as well. (Latter part not a joke)

Universal is not dumb. Rumor is a lot of the new park will "interact" with the wands. There's not going to be a kid there who doesn't beg for one.

:thumbsup2 That's how I was raised, and fully how I expected to raise my kids. However we had to make some adjustments when we discovered that our oldest is ridiculously academically gifted, while our youngest is equally smart, but has a learning disability.

So... the oldest does no work and brings home mostly A's anyway, while the youngest works his butt off and gets mostly B's. Consequently, we've decided to ignore grades. "You're still passing? That's nice."

School is... in my opinion... not even close to the real world. Especially in our district where the policy is that no one fails and every one gets a retest if they didn't study. My kids choose to go because they like hanging out with other kids. But I'm the one who taught them to read and do their math, not the school. And they earn their money by working (for us, or for the neighbours, or delivering papers).

I know what you are saying...I have 2 other daughters (27,25) and i had to to deal with them on each basis for there own talent and skill sets. I guess we are lucky here with our school system. You dont pass you dont go to the next grade..They are teaching these kids stuff now that i dint learn till in high school...My daughter shows me some of her stuff and i scratch my head...:lmao: i look at my wife and say ...i did go to college didnt i????

That's awesome! Our school environment is very sweet and well meaning, but not rigorous at all.

Me, I'm presently tutoring a friend's 13yo son. He's just dropped out of school, so to make sure he keeps his options open, I've offered to teach him his math. He tested at a beginning grade 6 level, counts on his fingers, and doesn't know his multiplication tables, so we're pretty much starting from scratch. It's incredibly frustrating that you can send your kids for years, and they barely learn anything.

On the other hand, I feel absolutely no guilt about having the kids miss school to go to vacationing during the off season!

So there's an up side to everything. :hippie:

You are lucky all your DD12 wants is a wand.....mine is DYING to get in those stores. And I have to admit, I bet they will have some really cool stuff. Somewhere on here, they had a pic of some of the brooms.....

If you want a general idea of what the cost for HP merchandise will be, I suggest you check out wbshop.com Not an ad for them in any way, it's just the one website that currently has the most licensed HP product (as it is their franchise), and the best way to figure out what scarves and wands generally go for.

That being said, most of the product in the themepark is exclusive for them. I know that most of the merch we saw in the Ellen Show segment was not available anywhere else (except the hats). I'm sure prices will not be lower than those you find at WB's shop since they'll have a nice captive audience and want to make as much dough as possible.

I'm already freaking out about where I'm going to find the money to buy it all... hehe My friends and I are already planning to take extra colapsible suitcases/carry-ons so we have extra room for purchases.

i read on screamscape about the merchandise you are talking about.

they even had a picture of the wand and something else(maybe broom) from parry hotter UO merch.
