Does anyone know what the next WDW theme will be? Also, are they replacing the 100 years parades with new ones?

Personally, I think that the 100 YoM celebration was one of the best in recent memory. We loved the parades, the exhibit's on Walt's life, and, yes, even the Sorcerer hat.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

There was a thread on that some time ago.
Seemed the "Where Magic Lives" or something along that line will be the new theme.

No real details as to parades, etc. were known.

mickeys 75th birthday. i actually plan on buying some of the merchandise as its not total crap this year. imagine my surprise!

The new theme that will go into effect on March 1st is going to be the theme of the new disney commercials. where magic lives. Cm's will begin wearing new nametags that have the hometown and state on them it will say where magic lives on the top with tinkerbell as the character instead of mickey. All the parades will stay the same and continue with the exception of Tapestry of dreams which will come to an end on feb. 28th. at this time there is no official talk of replacing it. The Sorcerer hat at mgm will remain as the new icon of the park and the 100 years sign will be replaced with some sort of permanent magical sculpture this spring. Also one man's dream will continue to remain open for a limited time.

Mickey's 75th is just an undertone pretty, much. Its almost like the 30th birthday at the start of hundred years. the merchandise was there but the main foucus was on the 100 years celebration. There has actually been nothing mentioned throughout disney about a celebration planned to celebrate mickey's b-day.

Where Magic Lives seems more like a promotion theme rather than a full-blown celebration. Seems in Feb of 2001 (shortly after the Millennium Celebration ended) not much news was out about 100 Years of Magic (which was to begin in October of 2001.) Perhaps there's another celebration planned to begin in October of 2003 that we don't really know about yet, but my guess is that October 2004 will be the next kickoff date and the theme will be 50 years of Theme Parks that will run through the end of 2005.

Mr. Gcurling is pretty right about the "rumors" - the next big event will be the '50 Years of Disney Theme Parks' celebration.

But the latest rumors say maybe not. It appears that budget cuts may scuttle the whole thing. What was once supposed to be some big worldwide event may not even happen at all. Even modest parades and banners require money, and its whispered that Eisner has just refused to support even the small amounts the "celebration" was going to take.

According to the rumors, Disneyland's "celebration" will be limited to a modified 'Believe' fireworks show and an ad campaign. No new rides. No new shows. No new films. Oh - there will be a bunch of new merchandise and plenty of additional-cost events for the AP crowd, but nothing for the park itself.

The other resorts are kind of left to their own devices. The new head of Attractions is all about cross-promotion (he is rumored to have always been furious that Eisner never promoted Euro Disney here in the colonies). But each park will have to come up their own money to pay for it. That's not what WDW was expecting.

So right now it's somewhat in the air if WDW will help "celebrate" Disneyland's anniversary. If they can come up with a better use for the money (like Mickey butter or non-French toilet paper or Eisner wants another bonus), than we'll probably see that.

I don't mind a breather from celebrations. Not that its going to happen but it would be good if WDW takes sometime and comes up with something really worth seeing...like the Millenium celebration....or even that silly pink castle. ToD and 100 years both had the feel of Disney trying to suck money out of my wallet.

While they are thinking about it they can work on figuring out how to get people back into Pleasure Island during the winter. In the 90's it was packed but when City Walk opened it died...maybe its different in the summer...I don't think opening up DTD Westside was helpful either.

Note to Disney...check out cities that have a relatively safe and constant night time draw & see if you can incorporate some parts of that ...Cleveland & San Diego come to mind.
