what will May be like-help please

Just got back today and we have decided the only cure for the blues is to go back asap!

We are thinking of May but i don't know if there are any American holidays then.Can anyone advise me?

We went from May 27th - 10th June and there was little crowds, the max we waited was around 20 minutes a ride, although I believe there is a "Gay" weekend or week at the end of may, the WDW parks should be avoided on these days. Apart from that Im unaware of any public holidays except the florida schools finish late May. Although I havent been during the middle of May I reckon it would be a perfect time, specially if you avoid the easter rush.

May is generaly speaking a good time to go, have been there before and didn't find the crowds too bad - you also get hot weather without the high humidity during the hot summer months.

Memorial Day is the last Monday in May and it does get busy around that holiday. If I was planning to go in May, I'd be tempted to go during the first half to avoid both that and the UK half-term (thinking about the flight prices, rather than the impact of the UK visitors on crowds).

For the longest time, October was our favourite time to go for both low crowds and sunny, but not unbearably hot, weather. Much as we love the International Food and Wine Festival, it does have an impact and October is increasingly crowded. May has similar weather, but significantly lighter crowds.

Having just been in the last week of May 18-28 I found the crowds around Memorial day were more than I was expecting. Having travelled in Feb and late oct/early nov it was busier than I was used to.
Maybe in part that wasn't a correct observation as wait times weren't that bad but due to it being very hot (30 and up) it seemed that way.

I think I'm just spoilt!! I would also go first half of May as temps will not be as high.

I have been twice in May and once in September, i will definatley stick to May in future, Although it was much sunnier in May it was not nearly as humid and rainy as sept, also we found the parks really quite crowded in sept as this is when WDW offer their free dining package to resort guests!

May is also the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot. It increases the crowds in that park a bit, but not so much the others. Earlier in the month is a little cooler.

Actually, gay days isn't a Disney-sponsered event......so I'm pretty sure they don't rent out the parks and water parks for themselves after normal closing.

Anyone withe the money can rent a park after hours if you have the money.you pay extra for this benifit.

Was glad Memorial Day was finally mentioned As a transplanted Brit. I know full well the different holidays. May used to be Sppring Bank holiday but that could have changed. Of course you inthe U.K. don't celebrate the next summer U>S> holiday July 4th!!!!!!You would not believe how many times I was asked if we did or where I learnede the language!!!!!

We went end of April/early May last year and at the end of April were the Grad Nights at the MK so there were some early closings for that. I think Spring Break can last a while as different areas have different weeks.

The Flower and Garden festival is on but we didn't feel like it was to crowded at all

A few years back I stayed at the All stars for a massive 21 days in a row.
That was the last thtee weeks of May.
It was sunny 20 days and rain on the last day!
Gay week started the last week runnnig into June.
Crowds were very light until the bank holiday weekend, same B/H MONDAY as ours but diffrerent name.

The crowds really picked up that week, lots of Brits with kids, and the ride wait times shot up, but park hours extended as well.

We had done everything twice/three times etc, so we kicked back to the pools.

The Saturday of gay week at the MK was terrible, it was so crowded we left about 10.30am and went to Epcot, which was empty.

Spring BANK holiday is an English holiday, or at least that's what it used to be called and falls sometime between Eastewr and the end of schoolyear which is late July so could well fall around Memorial day.!

Just a little difference PaulH, but as I recall my dad did have a few pints over the spring bank holiday!!!! Usually Bitter!

thanks everyone for your advice.Think we will go early to mid may and try and include mothers day and star wars dates if we can.
