What will it even look like after the parks reopen?

I saw the Shanghai Disney information regarding the requirements of masks, distancing, special code to enter, temperatures taken, etc. How can WDW open without limiting the number of people in the parks or some of the same requirements? Will it be fun to even be in the parks? We have a big trip in September with our grown children and their significant others (who have never been to WDW). Obviously, I am waiting to make a trip decision until later this summer but it just seems like an untenable situation.

It's a really interesting question that I think everyone is asking about everything that exists. Shows, theaters, circus performances, sporting events etc. It's unchartered territory, nobody really knows. If I had have an opinion about it, with time everything will go back to close of what we perceive as near normal. I am a New Yorker who has seen 9/11, the effect to the city and the subsequent return to normal that we were always bound to go back to.

Eventually people get tired of the inconvenience of something and relax. Of course 9/11 permanently affected things like air travel security, but on a day-to-day here in NYC, eventually everyone decided well we're a terrorist target, we could die at the office today but we have work to do. So personally, I've learned to adapt to these things. I think eventually ready or not people will go back to normal, including Disney.

I imagine hand sanitizers and an overall conscientiousness of cleanliness will be in the minds of many going forward. There'll be free ones around Disney, and you know who knows maybe hand sanitizers will be the hottest Disney themed merch at the parks. I think people will opt to use masks more often, I don't think that will work as a mandatory experience at Disney World. In fact, I actually would opt not to go because I can't stand it here nevermind in 90 degree Florida heat and I don't think I'm alone in that.

I wouldn't be totally surprised if Disney used this as an opportunity to (maybe permanently?) cut / reduce shows and character interactions without seeming as a cost cutting measure as I think a lot of people will understand that for at least a year after the pandemic quiets down some. That doesn't sound like the happiest place on earth to me, but I do think it will eventually return to a semblance of normal, I'm just unsure of when.

But my guess is just as valid as anyone else's and I'm very curious to see what happens!

I wonder what WDW will do as far as night shows in the parks. It was rumored that MK was changing fireworks for the 50th Anni celebration and the new ones would include projections all over the park to help reduce crowding in the hub.

Maybe those new fireworks get released sooner than planned. I think WDW will need to limit capacity in roped off viewing areas. Each guest is going to require more square footage.

Everyone will walk around the parks wearing a mask and a device that prevents the hands from reaching the face. Problem solved, normal crowds!

I think the shorter term new normal will be ..less overall people admitted daily, more sanitizers and sanitizing, changes in lines/waiting, removal of character interactions and more “ special” aka paying character spots/meals/show, reductions or eliminations of parades and firework shows,
Cm’s in masks and gloves at all service counters and restaurants, stores etc. no more walk ups for seated meals, more online check ins and outs, longer waits for bus transports due to no more standing policy.

Disney will need to make drastic changes ( even if only for a year) to make the public feel safe and Trust that they have customers , cms health as a priority. They can do it, I’m positive.
Eventually things will start to ease. I’d be surprised if they Open any time before fall. Parts of fla have not even Peaked yet.. projected early May.
Stay Healthy All. We ll get thru this!
