what will happen to points when changing resorts to a lower level resort

at the end of this month I can book for next year

our home resort is the poly--but weve been trying out different resorts since we bought in 2015

so I always book the poly at the 11 month window but then the last 2 years switched to BLT at the 7 month window

Ive had to borrow a few points in order to change resorts

however next year wed like to try the beach club--which is less points then BLT or poly

so my question is what happens to the points I don't need for the beach but already used for the poly

Im hoping they go back to the use year and not into holding if they do go back into use year can I bank them into 2021 use year

also is it pretty easy to switch into beach club how this makes sense

If you book PVB at 11 months, then switch to BCV at 7 months; the unused points will go back into your account as if they were never used. They can then be banked into next UY if you choose.

in addition to above, any points that were banked or borrowed will go back into the year you had banked or borrowed them to/from (NOT to their original UY).
availability is really dependent upon time of year (Fall through January is very busy, Star Wars will make that time even more difficult), and room size (studios are the first to book up).

Good Luck! BCV is a great resort especially during F&W! Unfortunately for studios at 7 months during F&W,very difficult to get!

IF you can make the switch, the points will go back to the UY that they came from. Whether you can bank them or not will depend on when your banking deadline is. For instance, a Sept UY must be banked by April 30. So, take that deadline into account.

NO.

Any current UY pts will drop back into that current UY with no issue.

But banked and borrowed pts are stuck in their new UY. Banking and borrowing are final transactions. So you would free up current UY pts that can be banked forward but if you have a lot of banked or borrowed pts used to reserve the stay, those cannot be moved again.

You can't bank borrowed points. Borrowed points stay in the year that they were borrowed into.

So, you're booking Poly for Jan 2020 with Aug 2019 points plus any borrowed 2020 points. You can switch to another resort around 6/23/19. If that works out and you end up using fewer points for the new reservation any banked and borrowed points will be used first, then whatever 2019 points that are needed to complete it. The leftover points will be returned to your 2019 UY. Those points can be banked into your Aug 2020 UY but then they must be used by July 31, 2021.

Just remember the 30 day rule for holding account points. If you switch to less points and do so less than 30 days early the saved point will go into holding.
