Well, we leave in 2 hours and the weather for this week looks terrible :guilty:

I'm sure the characters won't be out in the rain, but what else will we be missing?

I am so upset. The kids are so excited and I'm afraid they are going to miss out on so much. We'll still go to the parks for the rides and whatever else is going on, but I know it just won't be the same.

It looks like every day we are planning on doing a park there is a scattered thunderstorm or showers or something :(

Help to reassure me that we'll still have a good time!!

The ride I know will definately shut down is Test Track because some of the ride is outside. Don't worry. There are always perdictions of scattered thunderstorms. They usually last about 10 to 15 minutes and then they are over. Enjoy your trip.

Rain doesn't stop much of anything at WDW. We have been there and had different things (Wishes, Tinkerbell's flight, Fantasmic, Flights of Wonder) cancelled because of lightening but not rain. Most of the attractions are indoors so just bring your raingear and keep going!! It is not unusual for the weather forecast in Florida to have rain/thunderstorms every day--they are usually brief.

Storms are widely scattered here in Orlando. It could be raining on one side of the park and not the other.

There was a chance for rain yesterday. It rained for about 2 hours and then the rest of the day was very nice.

Don't worry about it. You will still have a wonderful time.

Put on some panchos and head out!!!!!! One thing I do know that do not do when it is raining or even sprinking hard is some of "Indiana Jones". And if it is really raining hard, the may cancel the whole thing.

Hopefully, the weather will get better for your trip.

Have a great time!

When we were there 2 years ago, we got lots of rain (like, EVERY day) but still had a fantastic time and much magic. There's so much to do, and sometimes rain actually helps the crowds (so hang around).

Our worst rain day was MK, and I remember standing in line for HM in the heavy drizzle. A particularly helpful and entertaining CM made the day for us, talking to us and others in line, adding witty comments etc.

Also remember, sometimes the Florida rain is just a quick cloudburst that's soon gone, and the sun comes out again.

Have a great time!

:sunny:

As everyone has been saying, scattered thunderstorms means just that, they are scattered throughout the forecast area, which is actually pretty large. There is a chance none will be over the park that you are in, and they usually do not last very long. Just enjoy a meal or an indoor attraction to wait out the rain. If there is lightning, you really should make sure you are indoors, because lightning in Florida tends to be worse than some other area. An advantage of the rain is that a lot of people will leave the park when it starts, not knowing that it will be over soon.....

We were just there 2 wks ago and faced the same forecast and had the same fears. DON'T WORRY!!! We did the MK the day that it was suppose to be the rainiest and had a fabulous time. The place was deserted, the other guests were in great moods and the CM's had time to focus on us. We completed the entire MK between 9 and 3 with an hour lunch break. We were even allowed to stay on some rides and ride through when there was nobody waiting in the que. At the end of the day we decided that we hoped there was a day that it would downpour every time that we visited WDW.

Take ponchos, baseball caps and umbrullas and you'll have a BLAST!! :umbrella: have fun. I'm jealous :goodvibes

We were there two weeks ago and it rained 2 out of the 3 days that we were there (saw a whole 5 minutes of sun). If you have a thunderstorm it will be here and gone in no time however if you have plain rain that sits over Florida you may be in for a soaker (like we had). Still you need to make the best of it.

Most things still operate in the rain - parades, etc. As previous posters have said the parks are empty so you can enjoy it. We had no wait for Space Mtn.!

We just kept saying "at least it's not snow" and tried to be positive the entire time - your at Disney!

As you have heard from other posters, rain is very common to be on the forecast in Florida. We often go in May and have come to expect and even enjoy the daily rain. It almost always clears up, the rain tends to come in mid day and only be around for a while. And the best thing of all, stick it out and the rain helps clear out the crowds! :umbrella:

Keep in mind that much of Florida is very dry right now. There is a danger many days of wild fires.

I am sure that you don't want to see any wild fires on WDW property so keep that in mind if it does rain. We could use the rain.

Thanks for all the positive vibes!!!

I'm going to be very optimistic and be confident that we will still have a wonderful time!

I had forgotten about the Toontown Hall of Fame - since that is indoors, at least dd should see characters there. We also have 5 character meals scheduled, so character interaction shouldn't be a problem.

I'm glad to hear they will still have the parades going too!

Thanks again! We're off on our way to a magical vacation!! :cheer2:

The thing that amazes me about Florida is how strong and fast the rain is then it just goes away as qiuck as it came. I remember seeing some heavy rains on my vacation and thinking to myself "great this going to be a waste of a day" then it becomes beautiful and sunny in no time. I wouldn't worry about it either.
