We just returned from a great trip in Aug/Sept a few weeks ago. We HAVE to go back since our favorite ride Pirates of the Carribean was down. Is there anything else that will be different by next year? I know there is a frozen "ride"? going up in Epcot. Does anyone know what type of ride that is? Also, are any other rides going to close by next year? I know refurbs probably aren't decided by then. Will there be a new ride in Animal Kingdom? I saw some construction there. Thanks for any of your knowledge.

No, not a ride.

The construction around the lake is for "Rivers of Light," a new nighttime spectacular that has its roots based on some of the technology used in "World of Color" at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim.

The construction area with the large crane(s) is for "Avatar Land" (or whatever they will call it.)
Won't be open next year.

I imagine the construction at Animal Kingdom was for Avatar land, which is not expected to open until early 2017. The new Frozen ride at Epcot is taking over what was Maelstrom in Norway. It's supposed to open sometime next year (spring?)

There'll certainly be a bunch of construction. Epcot should be finishing up the Frozening of Norway............AK continuing the work on its James Cameron wing.............and HS ............................Oh HS :P.................the new Construction-palooza of the WDW theme parks. On the resort side the WL will begin its Poly-like conversion......oops construction. Disney Springs? I think so but who knows..............??? o_O We can only hope that the Carousel of Progress in the MK gets a much needed makeover too!

Thanks, I kept seeing signs for Disney Springs. What is that?

The new NAME for Downtown Disney.

Which has, itself, been undergoing (and continues to be in the throes of) major rebuilding.

Most likely there will be closings at DHS as ground breaks for Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land.
