I am starting to compile a list of 'must have' pics for Randy, and I just wondered what you had/have on yours?

What's wrong with going overboard? You only get married once and the day will fly by. Why not take as many pictures as possible to remember every little thing about the day? My list will be acouple pages long including formals.

I think its a ton of work to put all of the tons of shots you want on a list - but if you don't list them then you risk not getting them. So I agree with DISNEY*lover that it prolly doesn't hurt to have a long list. I would just think about everything that you really care about and would be upset not to have and put it into a list.

At the same time I would also make a list of all of the shots you really don't want - just so the photographer knows and doesn't waste time.

I think all of those shots are completely standard. I mean if your photographer doesn't capture your kiss or exchange of rings then they aren't fit to be a wedding photographer.

Perhaps focus on not so standard shots like posed shots during the cocktail hour or locations you want. For the family shots after the ceremony that is where you should concentrate your list that way the photographer can easily and quickly get the family shots. Also just note anything special that will be taking place that they might not be aware, like if there is a sorbet course or confetti canon, they aren't going to miss the cake cutting.

I basically gave Misty a list of the family members so that it was easier for her to set up the group shots and we could get them over with quicker but as for other shots I just told her to do whatever. I really didn't have specific requests I just wanted some fun and unique shots. I think that any photographer will know the basic shots so as Skylarr said, try and think of some unique shots. The only thing I specifically requested was shots of the details of the day such as floral, the cake, the tables, food, etc. I am sure she would have done that anyway but I wanted to make sure.

I gave Randy a list of names that had different group photos we wanted. DH was waring his fathters watch and I was waring my grandmothers watch, so I wanted a photo of that.

Just a note, we got married in May and when Randy asked for our rings, I couldn't get mine off due to my hands were swollen. So if you want that shot, you may want to try it early on before the day goes by.

I agree with Melissa. Many of the shots are standard for wedding photographers. I think future brides should look at pics they like from TR's and such and note the "unusual" or uncommon shots.

For instance, my photographer knew to get pictures of my table names, but I wish they had taken a picture of EACH table name. Or if you see a certain pose or angle you like.

I had one MUST have and that was our hands/rings with my bouquet and I got a few of those.

I had a list of things I wanted, like me with my daddy alone, me with my best friend, me sitting with my knees tucked up under my dress (like a famous Princess Diana picture) but I forgot my list and didn't get any of those. You think you'll remember, but it goes by very fast, so if you have special shots that you really want, write them down and give the list to your photographer.

I agree with giving your photographer a list of photos but most of those do sound like standard photos. I actually made screen prints of some of the photos that we wanted Misty to take so she not only knew what the photo was like but she actually had a visual of it. She did have have the pages with her the day of the wedding so I knew she was really interested in what we wanted. She also did not mind that all of the copies of the photos I gave her were not hers. I gave her some of Randy's photos also and she did not mind at all. She said she wanted to make sure we got what we wanted.

I agree with the unusually shots - those are our most favorite. You do not want to give your photographer a full list and they do not have any time to take creative photos.

Here are a few of our must have photos.

Bridge shot in Italy.

In front of ADH with limo. I love the way she made it black and white with some color.

Group shot in ADH of all our guests with Mickey and Minnie. I am including this photo in everyones thank you cards that attended the wedding.

Table shots of each table with everyone sitting there. This way we made sure to get at least one photo of everyone at the wedding. You can see Misty off to the side in this photo. Her husband took this shot.

I was just talking to Randy the other day to go over everything on the schedule for that day.
I asked him about the list and if he would like to have one. He basically knows I'm not having any "getting ready" shots and we don't want beach shots. We are kind of subbing the time we'd do beach shots with taking pics of us and the Model A (plus all the BW shots, LOVE the photo booth one!)

He also knows we want pics taken at AKL either before or after dinner. When I asked him about specific shots, I also told him I know what he's doing and he takes so many pics that I wondered if the list was necessary. He said the list is important for people who have big bridal parties etc...

With us, it's only us and our MOH and BM so he thinks we'll be ok.

From what I understand from other DISbrides who have used Randy (Meg) , Randy is so easy-going, that I'm sure I can ask him as we're shooting.."ooh! Can we do that/this?" or "aah..yeah, let's skip that one"

In conclusion, I'd say if you're having a fairly large bridal party or more than a few people at your wedding, definitely let the photog know who people are and who you want pics of.

As far as unique shots go...I prettty much love everything Randy does plus I trust his creativity, I want him to feel free to shoot us however we want and I'm sure he'll get lots of great shots.

I agree with Skylarr, many photos on a list are standard shots for a wedding, I'd say point out the specific unique poses you want for sure and things like you dancing with your dad wouldn't really need to be pulled out specifically on the list...
